A Day in West Chester

Yesterday my boyfriend and I went to the Ikea in West Chester, OH.  I think it’s pretty safe to say that for both of us, this is our favorite store.  There’s a certain excitement that comes with seeing that giant yellow sign after 2 1/2 hours of driving.  Before we got there, we kind of already knew what we wanted.  He wanted to buy a new desk, one that is much bigger and more stable than his current one.  We had no trouble deciding on the one we wanted.  It’s so modern and beautiful.  I really wanted to buy an armchair, so that I had somewhere more comfortable to read, but I couldn’t really find one that I wanted within our budget.  I did, however, find a beautiful new shoe rack that we so desperately needed!  In our household, a shoe rack is a must because we follow the Korean tradition of leaving our shoes at the door and NEVER wearing them into the house.  This is probably my most favorite purchase.  I also wanted to buy a large painting to put over the sideboard that I bought last year.  I finally settled on a huge canvas of Audrey Hepburn.  The painting is modern and beautiful and goes perfectly with the rest of my black and white motif.  I still want to get that armchair, a bookshelf with doors, and a new dining set (although our’s is not too bad, it’s really not big enough to entertain.)

It’s amazing that all of that fit into my little Cruze.  It may look small, but it packs a punch when it comes to cargo space.  You would never believe it 🙂  My boyfriend thought that it wouldn’t all fit for sure, but I knew better!

I loved the trip, but it was way too crowded in the store!  I think every time we go it is always crowded, probably because we go on Saturdays.  I was definitely having issues with all the people there.  The worst part was when I was stuck behind a mother whose kid kept coughing.  Ah!  Kid germs are the worst!  To escape, I maneuvered past the labyrinth of bedroom furniture and swarms of gawking shoppers.

Near the cafe, we decided to stop by the restroom.  Without thinking, I nearly followed my boyfriend into the men’s room!  I said, “Holy crap” and spun around toward the women’s restroom.  A woman sitting on the bench between the two restrooms started laughing hysterically.  I’m just glad that someone enjoys my antics 🙂

Even though there were tons of people there, I was able to handle it because I was so excited about our purchases (and I was loaded on sertraline!).  We got home and my boyfriend went straight to bed because he’s still recovering from jet lag.  He gets it so bad every time.  Anyway, it throws him off terribly.  This morning, I noticed that he woke up at 5 am!  When I finally stumbled out of bed around 9 am, I found that he had already assembled our Ikea finds and was waiting for me to hang the picture.  It was too sweet.  All in all, it was an awesome day 🙂

    1. I usually do too, unless I have something else in mind. We just bought an awesome desk and a new bed frame. I love Scandinavian design and I feel like I can’t buy anything else. Target has cute stuff sometimes though 🙂
