Well, Here’s My Desk!

My desk 🙂

I can’t believe today is the first day of August.  This summer has just flown by and what’s even stranger is the weather we’ve been having.  It feels more like early spring or early fall.  Pretty perfect actually 🙂

Since I’m all by my lonesome, I have decided to try to write more posts and, so far, I’ve written a consecutive few, which is new for me 🙂

Have you ever thought about where others write blog posts?  What I mean is, do you have a favorite place where you can sit down, relax, and write freely?

The picture above is of my desk, where I blog most often 🙂

Other times I sit on my couch, but that’s not nearly as exciting 😉  Chester usually sits next to me when I’m writing, probably because I’m so quiet and concentrating on what I’m writing that he wants to grab my attention, which he is great at doing.  Instead of meowing, Chester mostly chirps or trills.  I love it when he trills.  Whenever he jumps off of anything when I’m near him or just looking at him, he will trill when he lands on the ground.  He never does this when I’m not watching/paying attention to him, so I’ve come to the conclusion that it is a way for him to get my attention.  He also trills when he’s running around the house at the speed of light.  He’s hilarious.  As usual, I digress 😉

Also, I finally got a book in the mail that my therapist suggested I read called, When Once is Not Enough: Help for Obsessive Compulsives by Gail Steketee, Ph.D. & Kerrin White, M.D.  I haven’t read any of it yet, so I can’t really review it, but I am really excited that it’s finally here.  I ordered it online for $0.01!  Can’t beat Amazon sometimes.  With shipping it was an even $4.  I don’t like to brag, but I sure am a bargain hunter 😉

Here’s the book:DSC_0267

Anyway, I would love it if you all would share briefly about your favorite place to blog/write in general 🙂

Thanks for reading 🙂

  1. I do all my writing and blogging sitting on my bed with my laptop. Once in a while I’m doing my blogging from the couch, but it’s pretty rare. I tossed my desk when I moved, so it will be a while before I invest in a new one. I have the room, I just don’t know where I would put it or whether it’s truth worth wasting the space that could be utilized for something else.

I love finding great deals on books too. Ebay is perfect for that. I’ve also got a nearly full Kindle Fire that is almost all books, photos, and music. I had to call Amazon for help with it one day and they lady helping me said “You’ve got like 3,000 books on that thing, with room to spare!” She was way too impressed. LOL.

    1. I have this weird thing about staying in my bed too long. If it is too warm, I can’t sleep in it, so I don’t get in there until the last minute so it’s cold. Sort of the same thing with the couch. The bed sounds comfortable though 🙂 I love my kindle. It’s not a kindle fire, but I don’t need that since I have an iPad already. I find that I read books so much faster on my kindle. 🙂

  2. I’m kinda weird I guess. I like to blog on the couch, next to my husband on one side and my dog Oscar on the other, while watching TV. I journal best in bed. And “real” writing? I need to do some real writing . . .

  3. Looks like a useful book and what a bargain! I blog at the kitchen bench. Often I am standing up and typing because if I sit down for too long I am inclined to fall asleep in my chair. And nodding off and falling against the computer screen is not to be recommended. A trilling cat; how cute.

    1. It’s actually good for you to stand up while on a computer. I have actually seen a local office with a computer table that you can walk on a treadmill at. Very cool. Chester’s trilling is adorable 🙂

  4. Most of my blogging is done on the couch because the battery in my laptop doesn’t charge anymore so it always has to be plugged in. I am pretty lazy, which means my laptop usually sits on my coffee table or my lap because I hate having to unplug/plug it. When I have to do more serious work or do not want the distraction of my television, I move my laptop to my desk, which is super messy!

    1. That sounds like my old computer. That thing would get so hot that it would burn my legs too 🙂 My office is almost my living room and kitchen 😉 Very open floor plan, so the tv is a nonstop distraction if my boyfriend is home 🙂

  5. My favourite place to blog looks a lot like yours! At home, in my room, sitting at my desk. I actually think this is the ONLY place I’ve blogged. Maybe at work, like…once or twice. Anyway – loved your post! And congrats on the awesome bargain 😉

  6. I love your desk! I normally blog from my bed (I don’t have a desk, so against a wall is the uprightest place for me. But as to writing, I do that almost anywhere. As long as I can make a space a tiny bit mine, I’m good with that.

    Very glad you are posting.

    1. It is a great desk and something that we saved up for awhile to get 🙂 I actually write at the coffee table and on the couch sometimes as well. It’s great that you have some versatility 🙂

  7. Your desk is so nice and neat. Mine is one big mess as is my house with the kids home. They are moving out for good in 8 days so I am putting up with the mess for now. I also do a lot of writing at my desk, however I do like to sit in the recliner and write sometime. This way the dogs can come and cuddle with me while I write. I hope you are enjoying your time with Chester. I love reading your blog and seeing what you have painted or created. Weren’t you going to work on some project in the house while your BF is gone? Have a great Friday! 🙂

    1. My desk is needlessly tidy as is my entire house. I’m working on it though! I’m trying not to worry so much about clutter. Chester and I are having a swell time together 🙂 I am actually, but I think he’s a little bored.

  8. Most time I blog sitting on the couch with my tablet. Sometimes it’s just about a topic popping up in my mind, but often I just write some sentences and the whole post needs many hours.

And then I hope the English so good enough for people to understand what I mean 😉

    Have a nice Friday.

  9. I cant send a photo cos I’m actually away from home – house sitting – at the moment – but I usually blog early in the morning before my girlfriend gets up – in the living room – on one of our leather couches. will send photo when im home again

    1. That would be great! Definitely share a picture 🙂 It’s fun to share a bit about ourselves. I feel closer to others when I can share something about my personal life.

  10. Wow, I wish my desk was as tidy as yours! I’m so messy… :S.
I like blogging at my desk at home as well, occassional on the laptop, which I take into the kitchen so I can look out onto my garden :). x

    1. My desk, as is my entire house, needlessly tidy. It can be frustrating to feel that it needs to be constantly in order. That sounds like a great place to blog 🙂 Wish I had a garden!

    1. THat’s funny that you say that about the lighting. We always joke that it’s a cave in here. I guess this particular picture has great lighting 🙂

  11. I do not like to type a lot on my laptop, i love the keyboard on my desktop. This habit came from time when i was all into cyber-sports. If i want to write or do something big i always use my desktop pc with my favorite steelseries 7g keyboard 🙂

    1. I love the keyboard on my work desktop. Don’t get me wrong, my laptop is awesome, but I’m so used to the other one that i feels weird to type on this one. 🙂 Sounds like you have a super awesome keyboard though!

  12. Ah, I have only the one place alas, at least till more of the room is cleared. On bed, cigarette in one hand and tea on the bedside cabinet. Posts, poetry, stories. 🙂

    1. That’s sounds lovely 🙂 I wish we had more space for furniture. Hopefully I come back with something fun to fix up on my upcoming antique trip 🙂

  13. Most of the time I write my blogs on the couch! The funny thing is: most of my inspiration comes when I am not even near my computer… on my bike, in the shower, in the pub, but almost never on the couch haha!

    1. I’m the same way actually 🙂 I almost can never come up with something if I’m just sitting at my computer trying to come up with something. I guess we just need the right kind of muse 🙂

  14. Hello, I just moved “my office’ for the THIRD time!! i started out at my kitchen table I found it to be to open and to busy so i moved it to the living room… ended up being to dark and still to open (i like my privacy).. so I moved it up to the spare bedroom. I think I like it here. I have two windows and plenty of light and a door that I can close for privacy. I look forward to reading more from you.. OH and Chester looks like my cat BUB!

      1. Good Morning. yes I think I finally have the perfect set up. now just need some good content I will be posting pictures of my new office today. thank you for the follow and comment. hope to hear more from you.

      2. Absolutely 🙂 Do you think you could post the link here for me? I have been looking for it and can’t seem to find it.

    1. I do love dragon software. If I could afford one better than the free app I would. It’s so awesome! Dictating in the bath sounds like a great idea actually 🙂

      1. It’s very expensive, but great that you had that avenue to get it 🙂 I hate when my phone doesn’t pick up my mumbling, so I can relate there 😉

  15. I usually write on my phone or ipad (using a bluetooth keyboard), while sitting on one of the sofas or soft armchair, in the quiet hours late at night or early morning. Usually one of my pet rabbits is around on the floor nearby to keep me company.

    1. That’s very cute that you have a rabbit 🙂 My sister used to have rabbits named Mulder and Scully. Sounds like a comfortable place to work 🙂

  16. I have a beautiful maroon leather chair that reclines. I put my feet up, pop my elbows on the armrests and go for it on my laptop. For some reason, putting my feet up leads to lots of ideas….maybe because blood is flowing from my varicose veins back into my noggin… 🙂

    1. I wish I had a recliner 🙂 I’d be in it all the time though. Being able to put my legs up would be quite a relief and sounds so comfortable 🙂

  17. I’ve been blogging from my phone, but end up with heaps of typos from the autocorrect. It’s convenient though since I usually go for a jog and stop near the end of my run at a bench beside a lake. I write a post and then continue on my way.

    1. I love the convenience of WP mobile, but the typos are definitely an issue. Plus, my phone screen is so huge that it’s difficult to type 😉 Blogging outside near a lake sounds superb though.

  18. I spend a lot of time at my desk. That is where I blog. That is, normally, where I get my ideas. I try hard not to think much about my blog when not there. It gives me a good feeling to enjoy other things. Of course, not working at a regular job gives me more time to sit at my desk and do all sorts of things…read articles, read other posts, play video games, watch movies…
Your desk is too neat! lol mine is seldom that way.

    1. 😉 My desk is a reflection of my life: far too orderly! I can’t handle much spontaneity and I wish I wasn’t that way. I work on a computer all day, but nothing as fun as blogging that’s for sure. I am always writing in a journal the things that cross my mind throughout the day that would be good to share in my blog. 🙂

    1. Awesome! Yeah, definitely do that. I think it’s fun to share pictures of our homes. It makes me seem a little more real and not just words on a screen 🙂

      1. Awesome! I moseyed over to your blog just a few minutes ago and saw the neat post you did about your blogging space 🙂 Love it! Great job 🙂

      2. thank you! You are right though, it does have personality. 😉 I think I like being surrounded by my things, but I am always putting things back and pulling them out…as much as it might be personality, it’s also a lot to do with usefulness….it’s not all in different places in the house. Everything I do…is on this desk, including one of the baskets that has my nail care in it. I think the only reason it does not drive me completely nuts is because of the basket coloring and themes. It allows me to not be overwhelmed by clutter.

And the recent changes…even more so.

      3. I do a lot of stuff on my desk too 🙂 I have baskets all over my house and I think they are the most beautiful way to store things. I got one at TJ Maxx for like $7 and it’s made of grass. I keep all of my perfumes and lotions in it. They definitely do keep me from going batty from all the clutter 🙂

      4. I get compulsive about them, I have to wash them from time to time, and make sure they aren’t breaking down or leaving remnants of loose basket under or inside of them.

But, they really are a blessing!

      5. 🙂 We have this great store called Global Gifts, which I absolutely love. They sell fair trade goods and it’s remarkably cheap for the coolest things. I have bought a couple of baskets from there, handmade in Indonesia, for like $8. I love them 🙂
