My Pink Cat and Amazon Wishlist

DSC_0590

Everyone has their thing, something that makes them happy and grabs their interest.  If you haven’t guessed it by now, mine happens to be cats.  I love cats and anything to do with cats actually.  I have started a small collection of cat teapots and cat figurines that I’m very proud of.    Everyone at work and at home knows that I am wild about cats.  Sometimes I do get dubbed “crazy cat lady” and I don’t mind.  I know I am 🙂

I work hard every day from 9 to 5, Monday through Friday.  I mostly work to survive, so I rarely buy anything for myself and if I do, it’s something I usually need like vitamins or face wash.  I almost never buy clothes and that’s fine because I just don’t need them.  Occasionally, however, I like to treat myself for surviving this long on my own.  Today was a day that I decided that I deserved a treat.

The little cat you see above was just such a treat 🙂  I bought it at a local, fair trade store.  It is made out of a heavy stone and was hand-carved by an artisan in Kenya.  I already have a hand-carved quartz cat from Peru and a hand-carved wooden cat from Indonesia.

This one really adds a lovely color to my bookshelf where I keep all my pretty things.  I love it because it looks so modern and almost abstract, but it is still most definitely a cat.  It’s my new pride and joy 🙂  Best of all, it was only $8.  I don’t feel guilty at all.  I mean, what a deal for it being fair trade, from a locally owned store, and handmade.  Like my mom always says, what’s the point of working for money if you don’t spend it?

Cats are my thing because they help me to de-stress and to calm my anxieties that burden my life at times because of my anxiety disorder.  Chester is my baby.

I’ve already come to the acceptance that he will be our only little furball for quite some time, but that’s ok.  He’s DEFINITELY enough 😉  He has such a personality. I call him my little Goober, Chesternut, Chi-chi bear, booboo, bobo, booba, kiki, cu-ki , robo-kitty (when he looks like a puppet) and a lot of other weird names.  He is my stress reliever, even though he sometimes is the cause of stress (e.g. chewing cords, scratching the couch).  There’s something about him and all cats that really makes me happy and my heart melt.  He has given me more reason to be compassionate and to not think about myself so much.

That being said, I wanted to share with you my Amazon Wishlist!  These are some of the things I REALLY want, but haven’t purchased yet, all of which can be purchased on Amazon.  I love Wishlists because you can buy something that someone wants and send it to them without them knowing 😀  It was fun to make.  Here’s the link:

Megan’s Amazon Wishlist!

I sometimes just take out my phone and scroll through Amazon, Etsy, or Ebay looking for things just like this.  Tonight I just sat down and thought of some of the things I’ve been eyeing for quite some time.  I hope you take a look at it!  If anything, it will probably amuse you 😉  Just letting you know upfront, I know I am weird…

Thanks for reading!

    1. 🙂 Thank you! Chester is a handsome buddy. The pink cat is awesome and it’s really unique. Perhaps I should do a give-away with something from that store. I just love everything they have.

  1. I love the stone cat! Do you have a picture of it with your other hand-carved cats? My cat is a great little buddy, she makes me laugh so much and she is good company. When I was a little girl I tried to understand our cats’ meows and had a little notebook filled with what I thought they were trying to say! Cat ladies for life! 🙂

    1. That’s really cute about the notebook of the cat meows 😉 I had one cat as a child named Hootie. I liked him a lot. he was a tabby too, but one day he was just gone, disappeared. Since I got Chester, I’ve been mad about cats. I just updated that post with the other two cats in a picture 🙂 I thought that was a good idea, so I took it and added it!

  2. YOU KNOW…. My book of Christian poetry IS ALSO AT AMAZON….! Doesn’t have a cat on the cover and the e-mail to contact me is no longer valid, but please check it out! SPIRIT-LED LIMERICKS AND OTHER CHRISTIAN POETRY, by Jonathan Caswell. Available in soft cover or as an e-book for their reader…! 🙂 I aughed when I heard that Chester fell off the table while still in the bag!!!! Silly cat (and we wouldn’t want him any other way, would we?????).

    1. I need to check out your poetry book for sure! I must have missed that somehow. Will definitely do friend. Chester is VERY silly. I don’t know how I got such a rambunctious cat, but I’m glad I did. He makes life pretty interesting 🙂

  3. I’ve also been dubbed a crazy cat lady at times; it makes sense to me completely! Amusingly, I’ve had many of those same wishlist items on my wishlists, from pet costumes to scratchers. Putting the costumes on the cats has never gone well for me with either one of mine, but it doesn’t stop me from trying. 8->

    1. No way 😉 Cats are so squirrelly that they manage to wiggle out of most anything if they are determined enough. I bought a Santa hat and beard for Chester last year around Christmas. I put it on his head while he was sleeping and snapped a picture all in about a 30 second span of time before he pawed it off 😉

  4. The first thing I did when looking at your Amazon wish list? I added that pink bunny costume to MY Amazon wish list for my dog. If I can’t have a rabbit, then by gum, I’m going to dress my chihuahua up as one! Great minds think alike. 😉

    1. Pets in costumes are great 🙂 I especially love that because they can’t smile they inevitable look like they are miserable in the costume, even when they’re not 😉

  5. I’m a big time cat person as well too – lol. Chester is really cute. Have you ever carried him around while in the grocery bag? I’m always amazed that most cats love going for a bag ride and being swung around while in it!

    1. Haha, all the time 😉 He actually seems to really like it! He loves going inside any kind of bag really. Sometimes, and I posted about this awhile ago, but he will get into the place where I keep plastic bags and drag them out all over the house. This usually happens at night and I’ll wake up to bags all over the place 😉

    1. I’m sure they are! Both of which are beautiful breeds. I’m convinced Chester has a bit of Mau in his pedigree somewhere, but as far as the shelter and vet are concerned, he’s just an “ordinary” domestic shorthair 🙂

  6. The play circuit is my favorite on page two of your wishlist.
Have you seen the colorful cat sculptures that are in a sitting position? You can put them on top of your television set for example?

    xoxo, Eszter

    1. No, I have not seen the colorful cat sculptures! But I’m sure I would love them 🙂 Do you have any pictures of them? I saw the post that you shared with me and I really like this idea 🙂 I’m going to answer one of the questions now.

  7. On behalf of the whole Internet, I beg you to buy that sailor outfit for Chester & blog it 🙂 I hate people who dress their pets but costumes are a whole other story.

I want to be a crazy cat lady and have been thinking about it but we spend a lot of weekends away and also haven’t given up the living abroad dream yet, so it isn’t the right time. But one day!

    1. 😀 I need to buy him another costume. The sailor outfit would be funny 😉 I bought him a santa hat and beard for Christmas. I had to put it on him while he was sleeping. He woke up shortly after in a confused stupor, realized the hat was on his head, and quickly squirrelled out of it. I managed to get a great picture though!

      1. Brilliant! Imagine what he was thinking when he woke “what has this bloody woman got on my head. oh my god it’s a santa hat. I’m never going to live this down at the litter box” ha ha

  8. All your cats are gorgeous! But wait, “crazy cat lady” is what they call ME! Cats are obviously beneficial to one’s mental comfort, after all, felinotherapy exists for a good reason.

    1. 😉 It’s great to meet a fellow crazy cat lady! There are a lot of us in the world, but I’m the only one I know personally. Something about the species is really fascinating and comforting to me 🙂

    1. Thank you 🙂 It was really hilarious when Chester fell off the table. I saw it getting ready to happen well before it actually happened 😉 He was so close to the edge that it was bound to occur.

  9. My cats are my alarm clock, my entertainment, my best buddies. I can’t imagine a world without these fuzzy guys! That said, I enjoyed reading your post today. The only thing wrong is one more cat to keep Chester entertained. Ha! (He might have a different attitude about that, as an only cat…!)

    1. They are pretty great 🙂 I love it when I wake up earlier than normal and Chester is not ready to wake up, so he just keeps on sleeping 😉 Otherwise he does wake me up pretty regularly by sleeping around my head or walking on my ribs… I am positive Chester would have something to say about me bringing home another cat 😉

  10. Thanks for making me smile. Since my daughter lives all the way on the other side of the States, I find things to put on my cats and dogs for the holidays. I take pictures of them and put them of Facebook for her. I will have to post some of my pictures for you. My cats aren’t too cooperative, but the dogs did pretty well.

    1. Dogs are definitely much easier to put clothes on because they are more rigid, if that makes sense. Cats are so squirrelly and agile that they wriggle out of anything. I would LOVE to see those pictures. You should definitely post them 😉

  11. chester is quite handsome. 🙂 it’s good that he brings you so much cheer. and, aren’t kitties wonderful dressers?!?! 😀 also, i’m with your mom on gifting yourself. it’s true. i think you should treat yourself well, and little presents such as the cheerfully colored stone cat are great ways to inspire you as well as your space. cheers

    1. He is such a handsome boy (and he knows it)! He’s so funny 😉 There’s honestly never a dull moment with him. The pink cat definitely adds some inspiration and cheer to my little place 🙂 I’m glad I went for it.

  12. I’m not necessarily a cat person but I do find them cute! I do the same thing as well. I’m constantly on Amazon adding things to my wish list and have a lot of fun doing it too ^.^

  13. There is nothing wrong with being a cat lover. I myself am a dog lover but the concept is the same. Our pets are way more than just animals they are family. I love the wish list but it looks like some of the things on there should be on Chester’s wish list. Never forget each day is a gift and not a given so enjoy it to the fullest. Have a great week! 🙂

    1. That’s beautifully put 🙂 Every day is indeed a gift and sometimes I forget that. It’s great that we both have loving animals in our lives. They are wonderful for overall mood and health.

  14. Nice post.. It’s always lovely to read a post about cats, I love cats too, I have 3 persians and 2 himalayans in my house.. And I am Indonesian, maybe someday I will send you some hand-crafted wooden cat.. 🙂
Say Hi to Chester, he is so adorable.. and thank you for visited and liked my blog.. 🙂
