Chester Flew Today

Well, this has been yet another evening where I’ve come home just too tired to do anything.  I think it’s because I worked out yesterday and my body is recuperating.

I do, however, feel the need to share this sad, yet funny thing that happened tonight.

K got out the new toy, Da Bird, for Chester and started playing with him. It’s a really long-poled feather toy and it’s really awesome to play with. Chester LOVES it.

Here’s the toy: 20131028_195127

I thought this picture turned out way better.  I live in a cave, so it’s hard to get good shots with my phone.

Anyway, I guess he was getting too excited and he was flying all over the place.  At one point I think he was literally 3 feet in the air.  Well, he miscalculated one of his jumps and he flew into the side of the table ledge. He looked like superman. I’m pretty sure it happened in slow motion because K and I saw it happen so slowly, he hit his head, and then flopped past the chair.  I ran to him immediately and cuddled him because it had to hurt. He was acting fine, but he was putting on his cool kitty face 😉  I couldn’t stop laughing. It was sad, but looked so funny.

K and I started to reenact what we saw to one another with a stuffed cat that I have.  We were laughing so hard my side hurt.  Now Chester is in his bed, like in the picture above, recuperating from his “ordeal.”

Please don’t think I’m a bad mommy for laughing at him, but seriously, I couldn’t help it.

Thanks for reading!

      1. I bet! Addycat has gotten so wired that she ran into a wall hard once trying to chase a toy. Oh! Then there was the time we were in the back yard. Something freaked her out and she ran full force to go inside… except the sliding glass door was shut…

  1. Cats making mistakes are so funny. They take a while to calculate a distance, begin the jump and BANG! Then they walk away slowly, their head down and a angry expression on their face.

“Laugh human. Laugh. I’ll have my revenge mouhHAHAHAHAHAHAA meow meow”

    1. It was too funny. Once he tried jumping onto his perch from the kitchen table, slipped on a placemat, and landed in the recycling bin below. It was a jump fail that’s for sure 🙂 I think he was embarrassed 😉

      1. Haha 🙂

In a prior apartment, Catou used to jump from the table and onto the cloth washing machine, in order to reach for the window above. She once missed the jump and ended up face first into the front panel of the washer. The sound it made was similar to if I had kicked the front panel with my safety shoe.

      1. Lol, I think you’re right! Although, I wonder just how many cat owners would purchase such things geared to the subject. After all, people dress their pets, give them birthday parties, I’ve even seen pet spas. I have a feeling if kitty proof merch came into market, there would be at least some that would buy into it. Lol.

  2. I laughed super hard when my two cats individually tried to jump into a closed window that lacked a windowsill. The cats were fine, as it sounds like Chester was. No harm no foul. 🙂 If you can’t laugh, what can you do?

  3. Is it a bird, is it a plane, no it is Super Chester. Now in the theatres across the room. Chester and the attack of the table ledges. 😀 Keep smiling I am sure he still loves you for laughing at him.

  4. Hahahaha! Cool kitty face! Lol I love it you made me laugh. Go Chester. I adore cats and the fun times they bring us. Hope you get you energy back, Megan. Hugs from Oz, Paula xxxxx

  5. Hey Megan!
That is great to hear about playing with the cat. Is good to support Chester’s feelings & hurts. It shows to him you care & will be good to you too as long as he doesn’t get wild at times. it’s great to hear also that you are exercising also. I hope it is helping some in your health too. I have really gotten to the place of being able to do things like I was when younger & doing chores & being crazy in some ways which makes me feel like I’m younger again. Have a great day & keep on playing & inspiring us all!

    1. I am basically a mother to him and have those maternal instincts, even if we are of different species 🙂 I love to comfort him. But yes, he gets wild a lot and runs around the room on the furniture. I often say that he’s practicing for ninja warrior.

  6. Suddenly I can hear that Siri lady’s voice: “Recalculating, recalculating!” as I envision poor Chester missing the mark and hitting the table…awwww, poor kitty!
