I Miss The Sun

I am so ready for winter to be over.  It has been one of the coldest winters I can ever remember.  The bad weather just won’t let up.  Today we had freezing rain.  I just keep telling myself it’s only like 30 days until spring.  I’m sure Chester can’t wait either.  He was sitting like this for a good 10 minutes listening to the someone using a snowblower outside of our house.  He was so wide-eyed and funny looking that I got a lot of shots of him sitting and staring like that 🙂

He is so cute 🙂

So, my new obsession is Breaking Bad.  K and I have been watching it nonstop for the past two days.  We call it our shame 🙂  We’ve had many shames in the past, such as the time we spent a week playing World of Warcraft nonstop on computers next to each other.  I mean literally nonstop, we just stopped to eat pizza and go to sleep for a few hours.  Watching this show is a little less shameful than that 😉  It does make us think about doing things that we would normally never think possible, like meth-related things.

Anyway, let’s get back on track.  We’ve recently got a new coworker in the office and things are a bit awkward.  The coworker is my age, so I’m no longer the baby of the office and I do this weird thing where I have trouble looking people in the eyes if I don’t know them well.  I am really terrible about looking people in the eyes in general when I’m talking to them, but especially people I don’t know well.  I have had to train the new coworker in a few tasks and I am terrible at teaching.  I know what I want to say in my head, but it comes out of my mouth all jumbled and confusing.  The last few days have been weird because of this.  Changes in my daily routine are something I don’t much like, but just have to get used to.  There’s nothing I can do about this.

Well, that’s what’s going on the past few days.  I’m going to get back to my show now 🙂

    1. Breaking Bad is massively addictive. I think I watched all 5 seasons in a very short period of time as well, with our two cats, and couldn’t stop thinking about it either for that matter! The show is totally engrossing – such great writing and acting…

  1. Before kids my husband and I would spend ALL weekend in our jammies playing computer games. We would even grab our meals and play at the computer. Ahh the good old days…..
Teaching isn’t easy to someone you don’t know. I have to do it as part of my job training new staff and I completely sympathize!

  2. The way things are going, winter will never be over. We are suppose to get a snow storm over night, then Wednesday, and Thursday rain and another snow storm for Sunday. am not liking this winter at all.
Train the Newbie at work to do all of the jobs you don’t like to do, and keep all the stuff you do like for yourself!!!
Watch that TV watching it’ll rot your brain. (just kidding, That is what my parents use to tell me)

    1. i imagine it’s even worse for you being so north. I am not liking the winter at all either 😦 I can’t remember what it felt like to be warm. I am doing just that with the new coworker! I gave him the job of filling out the forms that I really don’t like 🙂

  3. I was just commenting to my husband that it seems like winter is never going to end! Here in the northeast, we’ve broken all kinds of records! I’ve had my share of training people too. Just try remember what it was like when you were new and did not know anyything.. When I announced my retirement, my supervisor had me write down everything that was important in steps. Having a plan helped me train my replacement.

    1. I have heard that it’s been much worse in the NE. I’m so sorry for you guys! I definitely need a better plan for training, in case i have to start training someone else or on something else.

  4. haha Breaking Bad seems to be lots of people’s ‘shame’ 🙂 Mine is Nashville. I have been up till 1am watching it every night lately. I’ve only just discovered! Soo good! haha Your cat is gorgeous! I am so jealous. Hope you get to know your new co-worker soon and it gets easier 🙂

  5. Great photos of Chester! He may think he’s being inscrutable. I once read that cats stare past one another when they’re aggravated. Enjoy Breaking Bad, and spring is not too far away – hope it warms up a bit for you before then. 🙂

  6. I don’t blame Chester for wanting to get outside. In the uk the problem is floods. It’s been a very long wet winter here 😔. Let’s hope spring is long warm and dry for us all.

    1. It has been such a long winter! I’ve been to the UK once and it was gloomy most of the days I was there, but the one day it was sunny it was so very beautiful. I’m sure you’re looking forward to those pretty days 🙂

  7. Not much liking change. You are tackling it Super Megan just keep breathing and take it one step at a time.may take longer but you get there.
Winter here is soft as i can remember. Like in the high 40’s low 50’s if i do my calculation correctly. I miss the snow.
Have a smile and keep smiling.

      1. I live in one of the ice skating countries.
The Netherlands. and we usually have like lots of ice. and snow in the east. but this year nothing. it is like spring over here. and to think i love cold weird huh
And you are welcome. keep smiling.

      2. Oh, I had no idea you were from the Netherlands, so it’s nice to know a bit more about you. You are kind of mysterious, but I like that 🙂 I hope the weather is warming up for you a bit!

  8. Training is NOT easy that’s why we have trainers like me. Make a list of things to cover and check them off as you go. And tell her, shoot I’m no trainer, but if you have questions on anything we miss then shout.

  9. I love breaking bad! I am watching it with a partner and we have just started the final season.

Also I am so with you on being sick of the weather and ready for spring. I’m just hanging in there waiting for the weather to warm up and for this constant rain we’re having where I am to stop…

  10. Loved Breaking Bad too, and I would suggest Dexter if you haven’t already seen it. I think most people are at least a little put out by changes in routine, especially when you’ve got one going that works for you, hang in there Megan you are so loveable that I cannot imagine anyone holding it against you if you don’t make a lot of eye contact 🙂

  11. I loved Breaking Bad. I was both sad and relieved when the series ended. I binged watched all but the final season. I hope the sun will shine soon for you. I live in Florida and I get literally depressed during our 4-6 weeks of winter. Today is sunny and 80 degrees. I wish I could bottle some of that Florida sun and send it your way! Hand in there! 🙂

  12. I have spring fever as well! We all just have to hang in there – it will come!
I understand about the new co-worker situation. I have to be mindful to look people in the eyes as well. I sometimes practice when I’m out and about – looking people in the eye when I cross their path. It hasn’t made it natural for me, but at least I’m more aware. As for teaching, I love to make instruction sheets. That way I get everything written and making sense – and they have something to look to when attempting the task on their own.

  13. I grew up in Michigan and am now living in Tennesee mostly because of winter. Tennessee’s 50, 60, even 70 degree days with sun mixed in with the typical cold cloudy winter days in make all the difference in the world. Hang tight, March 9th, Daylight Saving Time, will be here before you know it. It’s all downhill from there. Oh and look your new co-worker right in the bridge of their nose, that way it will look like you are looking them in the eye 😉

  14. When the weather is bad, Rico, my black cat pleads with me and looks at the light switch…I’m convinced he thinks I can turn it off so he can go out.

      1. He’s even made me follow him to the front door, thinking it might be different that way. I’ve had to show him otherwise, sadly. I know, I know…
