Hello everyone! I’ve been doing a little experiment, if you can even call it that. I’ve tried not posting anything for nearly a week to see if anyone misses me. Seems like you all still stop by to say hello and I just want you to know how much I appreciate your continued support 🙂
In other news, Monday was my birthday. Good ol’ March 11th. Ever since I was a kid, I’ve always felt that my birthday was a random date. I always just thought the numbers 3-11 look so odd together. I know every birthday is random, but I’ve always felt this about mine especially. Also, March eleventh sounds weird. OCD I guess.
K surprised me when I came home with the cake pictured above. It’s tiramisu, my favorite. He also made steak that night too. He’s not much for surprises, but it means so much to me when he does something to surprise me.
I turned 24 this year. As cliche as it sounds, I can honestly remember being ten years younger. I remember exactly what my life was like during that time. Time has gone so fast and I feel like as I get older it just goes faster and faster. I have an old soul and I’ve always felt that I have. I’m pretty sure I was a lazy house cat in a past life or at least a wise Egyptian cat, too proud to do anything silly. Having an old soul and being a homebody (hate that word, but no other way to describe it really) takes its toll. At 24, I feel like a weathered old hag. The smile lines (as my mother calls them) starting to form around my face make me sad every time I look in the mirror. I’ve given to smiling smaller and less often. Plus, meds make me super lazy, so I feel like my body is just a mushy pile of chubbiness and I really have no motivation to work out. I’m skinny-fat.
I love how in all my childhood birthday party pictures that when I’m blowing out the candles on a cake, seemingly always in the same place in my dad’s kitchen, my cousin is just at the corner of the frame balling her eyes out in jealousy.
Birthdays certainly aren’t as fun as they used to be.
My mom still tries to make birthdays special. I went to my hometown of Huntingburg to see her. I’m not sure if I’ve ever told you all, but Huntingburg, IN is kind of famous 🙂 Parts of A League of Their Own and Hard Rain were filmed there. Admittedly, Hardy Rain, is a terrible movie, but you should watch it just to see my hometown a bit 🙂 Here’s a picture of the downtown:
Anyway! Huntingburg is known for it’s antique stores and picturesque downtown. You can find so much unique stuff there. A couple of months ago, I saw these two solid brass Mod cats at the downtown emporium and just had to have them. I didn’t get them at the time, but we went back on Saturday and my mom bought them for me.
I also found this salt and pepper shaker set 🙂 They’re cats of course. I love my unique finds! Thanks mom 🙂
Tomorrow, we are going on a double date of sorts to an Amish buffet an hour south of here. I’ll certainly take pictures if I don’t explode before I can get my camera out. I usually overindulge there.
One more thing. This picture of Chester is funny because he always sits in that same spot so that he can watch me when I’m in different places in the house. If you’ll notice on the edge of the wall, there’s a dark mark. Chester is always rubbing his face/scent on this exact spot. It’s too funny 🙂 Does your cat do this? He’s so cute. I can here him cleaning his fur in the nest I made him.
Well, that’s enough for today. Good to see you again 🙂
PS go to Youtube and search “Between Two Ferns” and watch any of the videos. You’re welcome 😉
