Cat In A Box And A New Hairbrush

Chester loves to get into places that you wouldn’t normally think of. Boxes are just one of many of these places 🙂  K bought a lap desk from Amazon and it came in this and now it seems to be Chester’s new favorite place.  He’s just too precious.  Oh yeah, I called the vet the day after his microchip came out and the vet told me that he had never heard of that happening before and to keep an eye on it to watch for signs of infection.  We will take him back to the shelter to get it re-implanted on a later date.  He’s  been traumatized too much lately and I don’t want to put him through unnecessary pain.  He’s doing well and he doesn’t seem in pain anymore at all.

One thing I realize about myself is that I’m really leery about spending money.  It’s never easy to come by money, as everyone knows, and I work hard for it.  I am so lame.  I have been using a hairbrush that I got in middle school up until now.  Some of the bristles were broken in half and they were starting to break my hair.  I finally broke down and bought a new one that I really love so far.

I don’t know why it is, but I won’t buy much for myself.  I always feel bad when I buy something that for some reason or another, I feel I don’t need.  Believe it or not, something so simple as a hairbrush became one of those things. I mean, it took me a couple of years of living on my own before I even bought new socks! How sad/lame. I will buy anything for Chester that he needs and I like to do it and I’ll do the same for K, but never myself.  I guess I know what I can do without.

I also treated myself to some cute things from  It’s an online store that sells Korean goods.  I love this store so much!  I’ve been looking through their inventory for weeks now, probably months and never broke down and bought so much as a pencil.  I did so today 🙂  I’ll share with you what I bought when it arrives!

I think it’s important to treat yourself to things like this every once and awhile.

I hope you all had a good day!  It was actually, I hate to say it, a bit hot 🙂  Which I like, but in an office it gets too stuffy.  I bought the world’s cutest desk fan today 🙂

Anyway, have a good evening and thanks so much for reading.

  1. I think that box suits Chester very well! (Or does Chester suit the box?)

Either way, they each compliment one another quite nicely.

A couple of months back I bought my very first hair brush. Never really brushed it before. Just combed it.

    1. We have been collecting boxes for our upcoming move and he likes to sit inside and test out each one. I really appreciate when he sits in the tiny boxes and his belly rolls stick over the side.

Congrats on getting your first hairbrush 🙂 I hope you too have a wonderful life together!

    1. Really! That’s so awesome. I love their products. The store I found in Chicago sold everything that they sell online for the same price. K always brings back stuff from there, but it’s fun to pick it myself 🙂

  2. Please don’t feel bad for treating yourself. 😊 It is an act of self-love. You deserve it. Sometimes self-love comes from things and experiences that doesn’t cost money, but makes you happy and worth far more than money. Please take care of yourself!

    1. So true. I shouldn’t be so hard on myself. It was hardly any money at all and you’re right, there’re some things we deserve that come around without spending any money.

  3. When it comes to spending money, I’m exactly the same! I’ll buy presents for my friends or food for a party or whatever, but buying anything for myself always makes me feel guilty, even when I need it really badly. So I know exactly what you mean… That reminds me of a really nice experience: For my birthday, two friends of mine got me this jacket that I had admired once when we were shopping together. Giving it to me, they said, “We know how much you liked this in the shop and that you don’t usually treat ypirself to anything, so this is for you.” That was really nice somehow – they didn’t just give me some random present (which I would have appreciated also), but took the time to consider what I realled liked/ needed. Now I always think of them when I would like to buy something for myself but don’t 😉

    1. That was so sweet of your friends. Very thoughtful. Those are the kinds of friends you need to keep and they are few and far in between. I’m glad (well, not exactly glad) to know that I’m not the only one this way! Sometimes we forget to treat ourselves. It’s good to be giving to others, but it’s also good to stop and appreciate ourselves every now and then 🙂

  4. Ha ha so you bought a desk fan? you was not suppose to say that yet LOL Untill it arrived:P
Ha ha you are to funny. I can relate to spending money on others and never on myself.

keep on smiling and have a wonderful time. smelling the roses, or flowers

    1. haha, nope, that’s not what it was! I made it sound weird. I bought a desk fan the same night, but I also got something in the mail and it came yesterday 🙂 I will post about it tonight.

  5. I identify way too much with debating over buying things for yourself! Simple things that should be no-brainers. The hair brush is a perfect example. About Chester–our cat is now stalking around, hiding in, launching hunting forays from a long cardboard box that came with a snow shovel in it and tons of brown paper wrapped around the shovel. I think he loves the noise of the paper as much as the novelty of having his own little playground/hideout!
    Love your pictures of Chester!

    1. 😀 I’m glad to know I’m not the only one that way! Silly the things we do to ourselves sometimes 🙂 You’re cat sounds like a character. I just love how they can be so fascinated with the simplest of objects!

  6. One or our cats “jinxy” just loves to sit in a cardboard box and survey us regally like he’s in his own private kingdom, it’s so adorable! Chester rocks! I hope he is feeling better 🙂

  7. I have the opposite problem when it comes to spending; I manic buy stuff. This is a problem as A. I don’t have a lot of money & B. It’s a trigger for mental problems. It’s not just things for me though, like you I have no trouble buying for other people & I dote on my dog, he’s a spoiled little boy! It would be good to have more restraint where my finances are concerned & a friend told me a magic spell for spending. Do I need it? Do I want it? Can I afford it? Nice, but I can never get past do I want it without mentally screaming yes! Yes I want it! despite what I list on my blog, I am getting better. I hope Chester is doing OK after losing his microchip.

    1. That’s a good thought process to use when you are experiencing these moments of manic buying. I know it can be difficult to control thoughts like that, but it’s better to control them while they are just thoughts. Good for you. Chester is doing much better now! Thank you so much for your concern 🙂

      1. I’ve been doing better since the weekend, it’s amazing how one little thing can snowball, this far in the week I’m usually up to my eyes in parcels.

Ah I’m glad Chester’s doing good, what add odd thing to happen, it makes you wonder how many times it happens.

  8. I totally understand not getting something until it’s absolutely necessary. I keep myself on a pretty tight budget, but it’s nice to be able to splurge on myself every once in a while.

  9. Cats are so happy with the simplest items, and yet we spend a fortune on things to entertain them and provide for them.

I probably wouldn’t worry about the microchip for a while. Unless you’re going to be traveling with him, maybe you want to forgo one altogether? It’s a thought. I do think they can be traumatizing as a cat gets older. I know I wouldn’t want one in my neck!

It’s important to treat yourself to things. The most basic things are necessities, not treats. Speaking of which, when do you go in for your tattoo? Hope you’re well. 🙂

    1. They definitely are 🙂 He loves my hair ties, which I’m sure I’ve told you before. I love that he likes these kinds of things. It’s very endearing to see him walking around with something of mine in his little mouth.

The tattoo….ugh. It has been quite the topic of contention in my household, so I’ve decided to forgo getting one for now. Hopefully in the future it won’t be much of an issue. We’ll see!
