Home Away From Home

Living in Indiana, I have a lot of opportunities to enjoy nature.  I’m thankful for that because I know there are many people around the world who don’t get to see the things I do, like wildlife and the beautiful trees and bodies of water.

I was recently asked by DogVacay.com to participate in their “Home Away From Home” project. You can visit their site or Facebook Page at this link.  I love Dog Vacay’s mission, which is to provide owners with the resources to find someone to care for their dog while they are away.  It’s a very cute, innovative website.

I never thought about my home away from home before, but this project got me thinking about it.  Sometimes when the weather is nice, K and I will go to the nearby reservoir.  Last year, we found a great spot with a picnic table right next to the shoreline.  No one is ever near there.  We will pack a lunch and a backpack with books and notebooks or whatever and we take it to the lake.  I love to prop my arms up on the picnic table and read a good book.  It’s a quiet, peaceful place to get lost in a story and to enjoy the outdoors.  This is my home away from home!

Thanks for reading 🙂

  1. What a wonderful idea! With one small dog, one young cat and one senior cat (17) our needs are more for someone to pet/house sit as all the animals are so much happier in their own surroundings. We are lucky to have met a lovely girl from our local vet who will do this on occasion for us when we need to travel. Harder to find someone to come into your own house to do this but so worth it for our beloved little ones 🙂
