Over The Weekend

DSC_0158

I just love this picture of Chester and Molang. They look like they are both looking at me.

This weekend was rather productive 🙂  I finished Molang!  I was telling you recently about this fat rabbit.  It’s a Korean character and just totally cute.  I got the pattern from Amigurumei’s website.  I definitely think I was meant to make Amigurumi. You can basically make anything through this style of crochet and I just love it.

Here’s a close-up of Molang 🙂  Isn’t he cute?

On Saturday, K and I did something that was a new experience for both of us.  The university was holding an auction for bikes abandoned at school after all the students left. They do this twice a year and the bikes go for pretty cheap.  I think we were both experiencing some anxiety before going because we didn’t know what to expect.  One thing that you may not know about me is that I am very, very competitive and if I really  want to win at something, I usually do.  This auction was no exception.

When we got there, there was already a large crowd.  I made K get his auction number, walk through the lines of bikes, and find some that he liked.  The first one they put on the auction block was one of the ones that K liked.  I was like, ok, I can do this.  The bidding started at $100 and I raised my card.  No one bid against me.  We were prepared to pay up to $150 for a bike that he really liked.  Seconds later, it was ours.  I felt pretty cool and everyone was looking at me.  We were in and out of that place in twenty minutes.

Here’s the bike and there are my legs:

K had a bike and I have one too that we got from my mom for nothing, but the one that was K’s was too small for him, so he had been looking for a larger bike for awhile.  We shopped around everywhere and the prices ranged from anywhere between $200 and I’m not kidding you, $7,000.  Bikes are really, really popular in this city, which is unique for Indiana, so you can basically get any type of bike you want.  The one above is Nishiki, which means it’s not the cheapest bike out there, but it’s not the most expensive either.  He is pretty happy with it and he can now ride it to work on days the weather is nice.

After we left the auction, we took a walk through campus and to our favorite local breakfast spot.

Here’s the beautiful lavender we saw along the way.  Lavender is my favorite flower/herb.  I just love it so much. Isn’t the picture pretty?

It’s making me hungry just looking at it!

Well, that was our action-packed weekend, complete with anxiety, kicking butt, and buttermilk pancakes.

Thanks for reading and I hope your weekend was great!

    1. It is a good way to get rid of the bikes, but being that it’s our school and especially the parking department, I’d say that giving to charity hasn’t even crossed their minds.

  1. Congrats on the bike! That pancake looks a bit disconcerting, I don’t think I understand it at all, looks obviously larger than the plate it might be sitting on, it also looks to be touching the table as it hangs over the maybe plate or maybe they just forgo the plate and placed it directly on the table.
Hope you enjoyed it. Sounds like it was an awesome weekend.

    1. Thank you so much Bill. It was fun to participate in the auction. The pancake does look confusing! The plate is only slightly smaller than the pancake itself, but it never did touch the table. Otherwise, I would have complained 🙂

    1. I’ve seen tons of them actually. If you aren’t a member of ravelry.com, then you should join and search for angry bird patterns. I know there are some there 🙂

  2. Nice bike at a super price, you did good Megan…..I think that shy girl is all gone, life is so much easier when you aren’t afraid of life. Have a super day honey.

  3. Molang is very cute! I cannot make anything, except for a mess. 🙂 My boys love to bike, and yes, the bikes can be extremely expensive. I can’t believe people leave those behind. The lavender is so pretty. Maybe I need some of that in my front garden. Lastly. Is your pancake touching the table? Because that would be an issue for me. 😉

    1. I used to love riding bikes as a kid, but not so much anymore, as I’ve become lazier and more out of shape 😉 Lavender is a super-plant and I use the oil for just about anything. Lavender is my favorite color actually. Well, any shade of purple really. No worries, the pancake never touched the table! I would’ve had to say something if it had.

  4. And so you become stronger ha ha love the Molang, I am a sucker for that kind of stuff to.

Keep on smiling And I am off making my own pancakes now. Gosh it looks delish.

    1. 😀 The pancakes there are amazing. My favorite place to get them for sure. They use real buttermilk, so perhaps that’s why. I can never seem to make them so good at home!

  5. That is a rather large pancake! Wow!

I’m trying to budget a bike at the minute as well 🙂 K’s looks awesome!
