I Am Loving Summertime!

It’s not usually like me to wait so long in between posts, but the week has seemed to just fly by. I haven’t had the energy to write or the time. I think summertime is just busier for me and probably for everyone. I’d rather be outside enjoying this wonderful heat and working on my tan!

I started working on my first afghan. The darn thing took forever to start, but I’m getting used to the pattern and it’s turning out lovely. It’s called a Vintage Ripple Fan Afghan and I found the pattern on Ravelry, but it was posted by one of my favorite crochet bloggers, Marinke Slump at A Creative Being.  She is just so inspiring and makes beautiful works of art. She specializes in mandala patterns and I envy her for being so creative with them! They’re gorgeous.  I’m pretty certain I won’t ever be able to make my own patterns just because I don’t have that type of mind, but I appreciate anyone who can make them. It’s quite a task.

Anyway, I’m glad to be working on my crochet bucket list.  It will probably take me forever to finish it, but it’s something that will help me work on my skills and patience 🙂  I must work on patience! I have very little of it.

Summer has kept me busy. I’ve been enjoying going outdoors for walks and just being active in general.  One a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the worst, my OCD symptoms are about a 3 or 5 at most.  It’s been wonderful and I think much of it has to do with the amount of sunshine I’m getting. I just don’t get that in the winter.

So, that’s a bit of an update from me.  I hope you all had a good weekend and are enjoying this weather if it’s been nice where you are 🙂

Thanks for reading!

  1. Looks like it’s going to be a beautiful afghan! Love the colors., and I’m in the same boat. I can’t blog while sunbathing. I try to write blog posts in a notebook sometimes, but it just seems so cumbersome compared to typing! I do print out chapters I’m editing for clients or chapters from my book(s) sometimes to proofread outside while catching some sun on my deck and that sort of thing, but sometimes it’s just too hot, like today. It was 90 degrees here in Ohio, and the humidity was really high, and I kept sweating on the blog post I was writing, LOL…so I gave it up…:). Thanks for sharing the start of your lovely afghan! 🙂

    1. Thank you for your kind words. I sure hope it turns out well! It’s not easy to make an afghan and usually I don’t have much patience with large projects, but this one is coming along. If OH is like IN, which I’m sure they’re quite similar, then it must be getting pretty humid right now. Ugh, 90 degrees plus humidity is no fun.

      1. Yes, Ohio and Indiana have very similar weather. I have cousins who live in Indianapolis, and we’ve all been dealing with some serious humidity.

I look forward to seeing the finished afghan!

  2. Oh, it looks awesome already! Does Chester help you crochet? If I left any yarn out, my cats would latch onto it and attack it like prey XD Most of my yarn has some wool in it, lol. Neko still does that with socks if they are left out. . . Thanks for the link to the crochet blog! Glad you are feeling better 🙂 I was so happy to have my surgery during the summer this time because winter is so bleak 😦 My kitties love the sun too. They find a sunny spot and go to sleep in it, lol.

    1. Chester helping me crochet, that’s very funny 🙂 He “helps” in his own way by stealing yarn when I’m not looking. I have so many skeins that have been pulled apart because he bunny kicks them. Your cats seem like helpers too 🙂 I haven’t ventured into wool yarns, but I’d love to sometime. Do you like a particular brand? We have a local yarn store that is awesome and has every fiber and blend under the sun. I hope your doing well.
