Changing Things Up

DSC_0723

There’s nothing I love more than finding Chester sleeping like a goober and then putting my face on his warm belly.  He doesn’t mind when I do this, or at least he doesn’t let on that he does. He’s too precious.

I sat down today and decided that my blog needed a bit of revamping, but I couldn’t really decide how or what should be changed exactly. I thought it was pretty, but a change of “scenery” is nice every now and then.  To be honest with you, I could’ve continued working on the appearance of my blog for hours, but I finally had to just tell myself to stop and take a shower and get ready to sleep.  If I get my mind set on something, it’s very easy for me to get absorbed in it and to let time just fly by.  Like my current obsession with totalbeauty.com, a site in which you can gain points to get free samples and other incentives.  Anyway, I gained nearly 6,000 points today, and I’m pretty sure that’s not healthy behavior….I even sat calculating how long it would take me to reach a point goal.  I can be so weird sometimes.

I’m not sure if I’ve ever mentioned this before, but my absolute favorite color is purple.  I love any shade of purple and anything purple 🙂 I just loved the picture you see in my header because the purple seemed so lovely and vivid.  It took me forever to get it to look right and to be the right size, but I figured it out.  My second favorite color is the mint green you see on the background.  I one day would want mint green appliances, a Kitchenaid Mixer in particular 🙂  That’s why I chose the two colors that I did.

I was wanting your opinion on something, I was thinking of changing the title of my blog to match my URL.  What do you think about “Megan Has OCD” as a title, rather than “The War in My Brain”?  Sometimes I feel like the latter is just too dramatic because sometimes my brain is fine and happy actually 🙂

Let me know what you think in the comment section, by shooting me a message, and/or by taking the poll!  I’d also love to hear what your favorite color(s) is/are.

Looking forward to hearing from you!
Megan

  1. I love everything about your blog. Ultimately, it’s your decision what to change and not, but the title as it is now…it’s not obvious. I don’t mean that in a bad way. It’s that you’re subtle in your speech of saying “hey I think a little differently than others and that’s ok”

    1. That’s so sweet and very comforting to know! I know sometimes I’m not as active on here as I’d like to be, so it’s good to know you still like it. Thank you so much 🙂

      1. lol… i just had it cut about a month ago and the coloured bits had washed out. my daughter just added some pink and blue to it a week or so ago, but it’s already going out. yes… i’ve had parts of it purple, never all of it. but, i have had it all blue before (not a wise thing)… when i gather up enough moolah again, i will for sure get purple and take a pic!

  2. I like the title as is too, but I understand wanting to match the URL, but only in terms of making it easier for others to find assuming people were having any trouble with that in search results or are passing it by because your blog title does not match the URL. If that were the case, I would say perhaps they should match. Otherwise I really think your blog title is perfect as is and is more likely to peak others interest when they come across your blog – it invites someone to go to it and find out more, so your current title is a good one in my opinion.

    1. Thank you so much 🙂 I think it’s growing on me as well. It took me forever to decide what picture to use and to make it look just right. Some shades of blue are beautiful too 🙂

  3. You know the site may be called Megan has OCD but the war in your brain is a great way to say it. and every war has its good days 🙂

I think it fits perfect as it shows the struggle of every day.
And you grown to be Super Megan struggling less smiling more and turning this war over to a win.

And easy on the points dearest. ha ha. Keep on Smiling Thumbs up. you got some great allies in this war

  4. You have a great blog here, first time I visit. No matter if you choose one name or another, then I think you should think very well about the new name first. You are you and not the OCD ,as just is a part of your personality, which you with help can move away from, so it will not disturb you so much.

Thanks for your visit and like at my blog, very appreciated. You just got a new follower.

    1. Thank you so much Irene! I think you have a good point in that I shouldn’t let OCD be in the title only because it doesn’t really define me. I’ll just keep it in the URL and keep things as they are. Thanks so much for introducing yourself!

  5. I just wrote a poem about blog followers….do you feel you are losing too many, or just want to change. I HAVE already set up my next blog for when BY THE MIGHTY MUMFORD runs out of room. I tend to like a dark-to-medium blue…’cause that’s what I feel I look the best in…in a solid-colored shirt. I’m partial to green and orange, too….other than they’re being in the flag of the Republic of Ireland and my family connection there….I’m not sure why. I voted that you keep your blog title as it is. Should you ever wish to pass it on, it would be easier for whomever would carry on with it. Not saying you SHOULD…just saying. It still provides a wide enough focus to do whatever you want to….unless you want a narrower focus….which would be fine with me! Just don’t take yourself or Chester out of the equation….you two (and occasionally K ) are the ones we keep coming to see!!!!!! ❤

    1. That’s interesting that you wrote about that just recently 🙂 I was just wanting a change. The picture was one I took a few years ago and the new one is well, new. I wanted purple and green as my blog colors, so I had to find something that went with it. I think you’re right about keeping my current title. It allows for much greater flexibility with my writing.

  6. Awww, Chester looks exhausted! Moving is hard on everyone, even kitties. I love sleeping kitties :3 And their bellies are so soft. My cats usually only let me pet their bellies when they are sleeping, lol. That reminds me of an Oatmeal comic on how to pet your kitty: http://theoatmeal.com/comics/kitty_pet

I think your new layout is great. The green reminds me of seafoam, which was one of my favorite Crayola crayons, lol. The purple you used reminds me of lavendar. It’s a pretty color combination. My favorite color is pink. I love all shades of pink. Yep, it just makes me happy 🙂 My favorite coat is a Juicy Couture bright pink puffer coat, and I LOVE it. I should have bought several of them XD The arms are long enough, and I’m 6’0″ so that’s hard to find.

I like the name, “The War in My Brain,” because it’s creative. I mean you can be happy and still struggle with OCD on a daily basis. I’m in remission from anorexia, but I still struggle with those thoughts on a consistent basis. I think you should keep it the way it is, but it’s up to you. I would read your blog regardless 😉

    1. I absolutely love when I can pet Chester’s belly and surprisingly he lets me do it quite often. K taught him to play dead and he rolls on his back and exposes his belly. He won’t bite or push you away at all, until he’s gotten a treat. Needless to say, we take advantage of this all the time. It’s the best part on a cat 🙂

Pink is actually another of my favorite colors. I have a LOT of pink things and it’s kind of my default color, so whenever I buy anything, I usually just get pink because it goes well with my skin. You are so much taller than me! I’m only 5’4″.

I think you have a good point about keeping the title as is. Some days can be better than others and I think that’s what it conveys. I’m so glad to have met you 🙂

  7. Will have a look as soon as I get back on my laptop, but it sounds so pretty!
I personally love blues like deep water blues, just amaze me. I also like the idea to change the name, partly because it helps support the fact that you are not OCD, you have OCD and that subtle difference in language means so much. Although I’ll still be reading no matter what the name 😉
