International OCD Awareness Week 2014

2014-10-15 17.46.27

Did you know that it’s OCD Awareness Week?  The week of October 13th through the 19th is International OCD Awareness Week, which is promoted through the International OCD Foundation.  To learn more about this week, how you can spread awareness, and facts about OCD in general, visit the International OCD Foundation website at http://iocdf.org

This week, to show your support for OCD awareness, the IOCDF is encouraging people to spread the word by printing one of two forms, one of which is pictured in my photo above, taking a picture with it, and posting it to your social networking sites, such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Be sure to tag your photo with #OCDweek . Post your picture to their page as well at https://www.facebook.com/IOCDF.

I encourage all of my followers to do this. I did and I even made this my Facebook profile picture.  I only had ink in grayscale, so I improvised by making my picture black and white! 😀

Other ways you can help spread awareness is by sending a letter to the Editor of your local newspaper about OCD awareness week. or by starting an email campaign.  For more information on this, please visit the OCD Awareness Week site here.

I just want to clarify that I am in no way affiliated with or sponsored by IOCDF or IOCDF.org. Anything I’ve stated in this post has been on my own accord.

I hope you all can participate!

Best,

Megan

  1. I am not OCD but I believe in what you are saying. I have suffered with depression and anxiety disorders for a long time..Mental awareness week has been important to me I am glad I found you blog and able to support it.

  2. Funny thing is, most people didn’t even know. My “support structure” had no idea, and are still all oblivious to the fact that there’s a wealth of knowledge out there to be found on the topic that would only serve to help them better support people like us.

Sometimes I wish I could trade family in for a new hat.

What are your experiences?
