It Snowed Today

Capture2

The weather is changing rapidly in Indiana. I woke up to this snowy, winter wonderland this morning, which was truly surprising. I know the local news told me several times that it was going to snow, but I guess I just didn’t want to believe it. I am tired of snow. It’s such a hassle and it messes up my morning routines. In other words, I don’t like change!

I have been in such a bad mood lately and I’ve just not been myself. I think it must be due to the weather change. Nothing that I used to like to do seems appealing to me anymore. Most days I just sit on the couch and watch TV or read a book on my Kindle in low lighting, because for whatever reason, I can’t get into a story if the words are well-lit. I’ve been crocheting a lot too, mostly out of the need to finish before the upcoming holidays. I can’t believe that Thanksgiving is less than 2 weeks away. Where has the time gone? I am certainly a warm weather person and I need some sun really badly right now. I’ve actually thought about getting one of those Seasonal Affective Disorder lamps to improve my mood. If anyone has any thoughts on those, I’d love to hear.

Chester has been restless too. I haven’t been able to take him outside much, mostly because it’s been too cold and we also don’t have a lot of good walking paths for him, just the one sidewalk that runs in front of our complex and the cars that go by always scare him.

He sure is a handsome boy though. Capture

Isn’t that just the perfect cat pose? 🙂 On those days that I’m feeling especially down, I’m glad to have a soft, furry, warm buddy to cuddle up to.

I’m sorry for my absence and hope to be getting back into a normal routine soon. I haven’t abandoned you my friends.

Best,

Megan

  1. I used to have a dawn simulator lamp, which is now broken – I’m asking for a more affordable version for Christmas/birthday. They work wonderfully and are a fantastic way to wake up! I definitely recommend.

  2. Your picture is beautiful. I too am not ready for winter. I like it around 60-65. I love to wear sweatshirts and jeans. I don’t like it too warm, but it has been waaaaay to cold around here in Kansas lately. We did get a good dusting of snow the other day. Thankfully not the 2 or more inches we were supposed to get. Your cat reminds me of one of ours we had. Tiger. He was a nice cat. Sadly he passed away several years ago. Let me know what you find out about those lights you were talking about. I have never heard of them. I definitely need one! 🙂

  3. Yeah, me too, Megan! During these overcast days make sure you get about 2,000 IU’s of vitamin D. I don’t care if it’s sunny and cold but grey, yuk! Don’t over indulge but it does help. You could have a touch of Seasonal Affective Disorder. It happens to the best of us. I recently wrote a short blog about this. Feel free to check it out. Blessings.

  4. I got a “Happy Light” for my husband (or it may be called a “Happy Lamp”) and it works quite well in the dark mornings or evenings. Try googling it. It was not expensive and looks nice, too.

  5. hey megan, i just got a s.a.d. lamp on friday and was actually sitting in front of it as i read this post. i’ve only used it twice, and haven’t really seen a difference yet, but it was highly recommended by my clinician and doctor. go for it. i feel your mood… hiding away… letting life pass you by, and being content with it, but knowing there’s other stuff out there that you could enjoy…. let me know how it goes.

  6. Yay! I missed you! (*hugs*)

For the seasonal thing, I recommend moving about as much as possible, but I know that doesn’t always work. I keep a folder of things to do, read or watch for those times. The lamps can work, but I hope they’re not as expensive as they were when I was a kid and Mom needed to get one for my eldest sister.

And yes, Chester looks perfect right there! (*grins*)

  7. I know I’m late reading this, but I just want to say Hi! I miss the warm weather, too. The walks and the warmth. SAD is serious. Hope you look into it. Chester looks ready to stand by his woman! Belated Happy Thanksgiving!
