A Week of Beauty and Scarves

I love beauty products. I love to shop for them online, but going outside to the stores, especially during winter, is stressful to me. I don’t like moving around people and having to make eye contact with other shoppers, so I usually don’t even look at people. This makes it quite awkward because I almost or actually do run into people. It’s like I can’t make eye contact and I can’t see others. I don’t know how to explain it, but maybe it’s a bit of social anxiety. Anyway, I decided it was probably time to get new conditioner after I noticed my previous one no longer smelled right ๐Ÿ˜ฆ ย I picked up a few other things at the same time.

DSC_0283Here are the three things I came back with:

  1. Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in #005 sugar frostingย :ย DSC_0286 I wasn’t even going into Target to find lip balm or makeup even, but I came out with this. It was on clearance for $2.00 when it was originally ~$7.00, and I’ve always wanted to try one of these hybrid lipstick, lip balms and thought, what the heck. I like it. It’s very hydrating and the color is subtle. It gives me that natural, yet supple look I go for when wearing anything on my lips. I have very fair skin, so I especially like the paler colors like this pale pink. It was a good buy, even if on the spur of the moment.
  2. Organix Nourishing Coconut Milk Conditioner: ย I have been wanting to try this particular conditioner because I’ve heard good things about Organix and was looking for a very moisturizing conditioner, so I went with this one. It doesn’t match my shampoo, but I’m not a firm believer that you need to match your shampoos and conditioners if you feel they are working well together for you. ย When I smelled it in the store, I loved the coconut smell; very tropical and pleasant. Well, I made the mistake of buying and smelling it the first day of my birth control packet. If you have no idea what that means, well let me explain briefly. I’m very nauseated during those first couple of days, so I develop food aversions to new things introduced during that time. This conditioner has been something that I have developed an aversion for. The smell makes me nauseated now. I do love how soft and sleek it makes my hair. I can easily comb it when it’s wet. It’s a good conditioner for the price.

3. ย Physicians Formula Mineral Glow Pearls:DSC_0291 I too have an aversion to this buddy too. It doesn’t even have a smell! Ugh. I still have been using it. I was looking for a decent, overall highlighter to soften my look. I came across this one by Physicians Formula. I have tried blush from Physicians Formula because I won it from their site a few months ago and I liked it. The pearl palette was very pretty and I thought it would be just what I was looking for. It certainly gives me a lovely sheer luminescence. I do like it a lot and have no complaints. I chose the one for lighter skin tones and think it was a good move.

I also wanted to mention that I won a giveaway! Kaily from somedaysunny.com, one of my favorite beauty blogs on WordPress, held a giveaway to mark 200 followers.ย I can’t believe I was chosen! I feel like I never win anything, so this was a very nice surprise ๐Ÿ™‚ Here’s what I received:

All of these products are from Acure, a brand that provides organic, cruelty-free, sulfate free, paraben-free, and basically free of anything you would not want in your beauty products. I love that! I noticed they started selling this brand at Target, so I will be able to easily access it. ย From left to right, this is what’s pictured:

1. Argan Stem Cell + Chlorella Growth Factor Brightening Scrub 4 oz

2. Moroccan Argan Stem Cell + Argan Oil Cell Stimulating Body Wash 8 oz

3. Lip Lush in Birthday Suit 0.5 oz

4. Unscented Argan Oil Cleansing Towelettes 30 Sheets

I have so far tried the lip gloss and the towelettes and I love them both! The lip gloss is very shiny and nourishing and the towelettes are awesome at taking off makeup. I am waiting to open the other two products when I run out of what I’m currently using. I’m so excited to try those as well! ย Thank you again Kaily ๐Ÿ™‚ It was very kind of you.

I will go back to crocheting now. ย I have crocheted 2 entire scarves already and am finishing a third. Here’s one that I finished:

Hope yours is lovely.

  1. I’m going to have to look for the lip lush! I am a sucker for lip gloss in a nude shade. I’m pretty sure I have at least 10 (ok 14) lipglosses in my purse and they are basically all the same color!

  2. OMG โ€ฆ I use this coconut conditioner. I love it. My hair feel sily smooth. Of course, my hair is latin hair .. curly and dry, It makes my hair feel soft and smell wonderful. My hubby likes the scent. The lip gloss is a pretty color. I used redder tones but I can see this one being perfect for you. I like your scarf. I enjoy seeing your handicrafts. ๐Ÿ˜€

  3. I totally know how you feel being in the mix of crowds, Megan! But I’d say you did really well on concentrating on what mattered and brought home some real goodies–I LOVE the color of the lip balm! That scarf you’re knitting is my favorite color–I wish it were mine ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. Nifty! I can’t use most beauty products because I have Rosacea and I will end up itching and burning like mad, but I enjoy your happiness.
One of my daughters uses the tea tree oil shampoo by Organix and she loves it. We’ve been buying her that exclusively for a long time now.
When I was on my birth control pills, I would throw up every Monday after Sunday start. Like clockwork. I never ate in the morning, then I’d be sick and then I’d fruit fast the rest of Monday. It was such a process, my friends joined me for fruit fast Mondays! I totally know how you feel. Like those Mondays when I’d go into work and they’d just had the floor polished or the carpets vacuumed. I’d think, “Are y’all tryina kill me?!?” lol Yeah. I get you. Totally!

    1. My grandmother had Rosacea and I know she bought everything under the sun in hopes of things working for her. I know how that could affect your choices. I get very nauseated from the BC, but never to that point. Then again, I have emetephobia and I haven’t don’t that in over a decade. ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. Yay! You are so welcome ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m glad you are enjoying everything! Try not to use the cleanser every day because it may be a little too harsh for that but it is one of my all time favorites ๐Ÿ™‚ Don’t use the shower wash the first week of BC palette! I kind of know what you mean about feeling sick and then wanting to avoid certain products. I went through a few months of that when I was pregnant with my son. Hummus is one thing that I don’t even like to look at now. And that’s so cool that you crochet! A girlfriend at work crocheted a blanket for my sons birth and I use it all the time for me, hehe.

    1. Thanks for the tips ๐Ÿ™‚ I use a scrub about every two to three days, so I’m excited to incorporate this one in my routine. That’s too bad about your aversion to hummus! I love hummus, but I totally get it, texture-wise, smell wise…it can be off-putting. Yes, I do crochet! I’ve been doing it for about 2 years and have loved it ever since. I went on a crochet frenzy this weekend. I should post all that i made ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. If you kept the receipt, Target will take the conditioner back. I have that one as well and I can attest to the fact that it can be off-putting. I highly recommend their Cherry Blossom Ginseng (I ran out a few months ago, but I do believe that’s what it’s called. It smells awesome and works really nicely.) conditioner, or the Moroccan Argan Oil Conditioner. The MAOC is fabulous for a store-bought conditioner.

I love the color of that lip butter. I choose similar shades that are neutral, but not so dull you don’t want to use or wear them.

Congrats on the giveaway win! See, it happens. ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. It’s the universal experience that no one goes into Target to find [insert item] but of course comes out with [insert many items not on your list]. If you can get out of Target with just a handful of Target bait it’s a good trip. Ha ha! I don’t know if your hair is curly too, but coconut in a conditioner is the best for detangling curls. I love it!
