It’s Ok To Splurge Every Now And Then

I love makeup and skincare products (if you haven’t already noticed).  Well, I have been wanting a decent eyeshadow palette for awhile.  I bought this one from Sephora in December and think the gold colors are great, but everything else is not very pigmented and I’ve experienced a lot of fallout.

Plus, I have tons of blush, so I rarely use the blush included in this palette.

I fell in love the Urban Decay’s Naked3 palette as soon as I saw it when it first came out. I was floored by the $54 price tag, but that’s what you will have to pay to get awesome makeup, in my opinion.  High-end makeup in my experience tends to be of better quality and it should be, for what you’re paying.

Anyway, I was in love with the rose and gold colors of this palette, both of which are my favorite hues. I just waited and waited for the right time and I finally broke down and bought it!  It arrived via UPS yesterday and I have yet to try it because I wanted to take pictures of it before I actually used it. Here it is in all it’s coppery, rosy glory:

Isn’t it pretty? I’m so in love with it and glad I took the plunge. Plus, it came with bonuses, both from Urban Decay and Sephora 😀

I’m excited to try the UD Primer Potion from the sample I received. I’ve heard good things about it as a primer.

Here’s the link to the Naked3 palette on Sephora.

Have you tried any of the Urban Decay Naked palettes? If so, what are your thoughts?

  1. The primer potion from Urban Decay is very good. I use the Sin shade, which looks fabulous on its own or with a rose-gold shade on top. I own a LOT of palettes, but none from UD. Most of mine are from Smashbox, Bare Minerals, or Mally Beauty. Mally has some amazing sets that are perfect.

      1. Sin is definitely my favorite. Maybe it’s me, but it’s the one that goes on super smooth and sometimes I don’t even bother with shadow afterwards because it’s so pretty on its own. It’s so easy to use that one and turn it into a rose gold smoky eye with black liner on the inner rims to accentuate your upper lash line. It makes a huge difference and makes you look like you have false lashes on without having to mess with the actual lashes and glue. Bare Minerals also has colored primers. I have one that is lighter than Sin, but it’s usually too light and I have to add some taupe or grey shadow over it. Regardless of brand, most of them have similar ingredients.

      2. I tried the Sin Primer Potion this weekend and I totally love it with some of the shades in the Naked3 palette! It’s so, so pretty. I see what you mean about it working alone or as a primer. I might have to splurge and get it at another time.

  2. Definitely, we all need to splurge, Megan! It looks like a lovely makeup compact and the colors are just like I use, but mainly peach and brown, with beige. I don’t use the grays or black, like my youngest daughter does. They are very beautiful when applied well, which you always do a subtle job on your makeup. Take care!

  3. I think it’s definitely worth the money if you really want it! So many times I buy things things that are average because of the cheap price. But every once in a while, there will be that product that comes along that it’s all I can think about (like right now there’s this $40 sweater)!

I’ve seen those eyeshadow collections & pondered getting them before. Hehe!!

  4. I haven’t tried any of the Naked pallets. I can’t bring myself to drop that much on a pallet, especially when the brand of makeup I use (e.l.f.) works just as well as the UD shadows I’ve used for literally pennies on UD’s dollar. But the Primer Potion… OMG. I will not use any other primer. There have been times where I have taken showers and come out with my eye makeup still immaculate. It’s the greatest thing.

    1. I have tried the $1 e.l.f. shadows and really didn’t like them. I can’t vouch for the ones that are $3, but they definitely look better than what I used. I actually really like the e.l.f. eyelid primer and the shimmer whip, I think it’s a great dupe for the Benefit highlighter. I think it also depends on personal preference as well and what you are looking to get from your makeup.

  5. I generally don’t wear makeup unless I’m going to a wedding or trying something out for a Halloween costume (I’m very serious about Halloween). My sisters do though, but I don’t know if any of them have tried this just yet. I do love the colors shown!

  6. I have both the 2 & 3 palettes and while I love them, I find that I only use a few of the shades from each one. I think that’s because when I find a look I like, I tend to stick with it when I should be experimenting.

  7. I’m a skincare product and makeup fan too. Most of my skincare products are Estee Lauder that I get at Lord & Taylor. I like Sephora too, but don’t venture in too often–afraid of how much I’ll spend. I like your new purchase!

  8. I haven’t tried them but they are at the top of my wish list, along with so many more beauty products, as they look so beautiful and every review I have read about them has been good! Enjoy 🙂 xx

  9. That pallet looks right up my alley! Yes, I love Urban Decay eye primer. Love it! It works very well. I don’t wear eye shadow very often, but when I do, it’s usually an occasion, and no one likes the worn out sad eye look!

  10. I ADORE Naked 3. I also have the Naked palette but I use Naked 3 every single day. I’ve had it for a year and only one of my colors is starting to hit bottom. The UD primer is the only thing that saves my eyeshadow from falling into my crease into a hot mess. Eventually I’ll get Naked 2, too. I think that (besides 3) it will complement my skin tone better than the Naked (original).

    1. I have been debating on whether or not to go for the original Naked palette or the 2 because I’d like to have more variety and the UD shadows never disappoint. The primer is awesome at keeping everything in place all day long 🙂

  11. I love the colors of the naked 3 palette but not sure if I should get it because I dont really like the naked 1 palette. My favorite is the too faced chocolate palette. You must get is if you dont have it. The colors are so pigmented and smells delicious. The urban decay primer is ok in my opinion. I prefer the too faced primer for my oily lids.

    1. I definitely made the difficult decision to choose between the UD Naked3 and the Too Faced Chocolate palette, but I chose the Naked3 simply because I love rose gold pigments so much. My next palette will be from Too Faced for certain 🙂

  12. I just got Urban Decay’s ‘Vice 3 Palette,’ and it’s awesome! It’s fun to have so many options. I bet the palette you have would be great too. I thought I wanted the original Naked palette but the holidays were near and I had to have Vice 3. Plus, I went back and forth with the orginal Naked palette for so long to decide if I needed all colors or if it’s a better deal for separates… I gave up for a while lol. I agree with you. Sometimes it’s just fun to spluge. I’m glad you’re happy with your splurge item!

  13. I remember that my first Naked palette with the Naked2 and I loved it. I gave in when I got extra money and got both Naked and Naked3. I’m excited for Naked Smoky! I’ve been dying to get the other Vice palettes, as well. I have Vice 2, but the new one looks gorgeous.

    1. I think the Naked 3 palette is decent, but I doubt I’ll buy another. I don’t find them nearly as pigmented as I would’ve expected for $50+, but I am glad I was able to try it out.
