Oh Sephora, You’re Pretty Great

I just remembered today is the Superbowl and honestly, I could totally care less. I can’t stand watching football because I don’t have the patience for it, it’s boring to me, and I just actually don’t and don’t wish to understand it. I’d rather sit at home and watch Netflix or write on my blog 🙂  The consumerism of it all is actually shocking to me. I’m sorry if you love football, that’s fine. It exists, so you can like it.  I’m just ashamed at the amount of money companies put into the advertisements and thinking about what that money could be better used for makes me sad.

On another note, yesterday K and I drove an hour to visit a great mall. I don’t usually like shopping at malls, but ours is terrible in our city and we wanted to get out of the house. I, of course, ended up in Sephora. When I go in there, it’s like a sensory overload and I feel like I’m running around the store looking at everything. I actually kind of love that feeling 🙂  I never leave there without something.  I know I’m paying exactly retail price, so I’m not getting a great deal, usually, but I still like the experience of being in the presence of all that beauty awesomeness.  Seeing all of my favorite brands in one place is just so fun to me.  I came out of the store with a lovely little haul.

Let’s take a closer look:

First up is the Boscia bamboo charcoal Konjac sponge.  If you haven’t heard of Konjac sponges yet, well they are supposedly the new thing in skincare.  They come out of Asia and are quite popular in Japan and Korea right now.  They are supposed gentle exfoliate your face while you use them to cleanse as well. You just add a bit of cleanser onto the sponge and then rub it on your face.  I bought it for K, actually, because he struggles with clogged pores and he could use a better exfoliant.  It’s the weirdest thing because it’s like a hard pumice stone when dry, but mushy when wet.  Very strange little device. Not sure if it works yet, the verdict is still out.

Next, we have something I’ve been wanting to try for awhile, but wasn’t sure because I didn’t have the chance to try it out. I received a sample of the Urban Decay Primer Potion, which is an eyeshadow primer, that came with the Naked3 palette I just received. I fell in love with this stuff! The staying power of my eyeshadow is far better than if I didn’t use any primer and better than the e.l.f. primer I’ve been using.  I’m very happy with this purchase. I like the original because It can go under mattes and shimmers.  This is the smaller size. I think it will be enough for me for now.

Last, but far from least, is this awesome set I got from Soap & Glory. Ever heard of this brand?  Well, it comes out of the UK and they make products with delicious scents and adorable packaging. Yes, I go for packaging. My favorite scent so far is the Sugar Crush, which is a lime scent and it reminds me of key lime pie.  However, I bought this little set because it was on sale. I think it was a holiday leftover, but I’m not sure.  All three products come in the Original Pink scent, which is a rose and bergamot blend, and I just think it’s so feminine and luxurious. There’s the Clean on Me shower gel, the Hand Food hand cream, and the Righteous Body Butter.  I used the shower gel this morning and was not disappointed. It’s a lovely little set.

If you’ve tried any of these products, I’d love to hear your thoughts! Also, if you have any beauty suggestions, send them my way. I’m always up for new suggestions!

Hope you enjoyed this post. I did!

Best,

Megan

      1. I’ve even found that sometimes I have to scrub to get it off (which makes me happy because I want the colour to stay during the day but sad at the same time because it hurts to scrub my eyes). I have been curious about their foundation primer. My foundation slides off a minute after I put it on, especially under my eyes.

  1. Let me know how that sponge works out. It’s been in my Sephora shopping cart for months and months.

I’m not sure which suggestions you’d be up for. Products or things to do on a whole?

    1. I will have to do an update post on how he likes it 🙂 In hindsight, I should’ve bought the Sephora brand Konjac sponges because you get two for the price of this one. oh well 🙂

  2. It is nice to get away and do something for yourselves now and then. It looks like you had a great shopping day, and fun doing it. I can agree with you totally on the Super Bowl. It is such a waste of money. Especially if they are cheating to get there and getting away with it. Of course I really don’t know what the true deal was on the deflated ball, and I don’t care. I do have to say I do like the Clydesdale commercials. They are the only thing worth watching. Except for the little boy in the Darth Vader suit. That commercials was priceless when it was shown. Have a great Sunday. 🙂

    1. It’s definitely important to treat ourselves every now and then. My mom always tells me that I deserve anything I want to buy and I agree with her. Sometimes I go overboard, but it’s hard to get past the mindset that I don’t need to spend money on anything and to just give in every now and then. I have no idea what all that deflated ball crap was all about either, but seems ridiculous to me too.

  3. I enjoyed this post! 😀 I’m always so curious to see what products people haul haha. Hope everything works great! ❤ I've never used a Konjac sponge before, it looks so interesting!

  4. I have loved the UD primer potion for years. I actually just put it in my January Empties post! And I purchased that Soap and Glory set and finished everything except the body butter. The scent of their stuff is amazing! Great haul!

    1. I just read your post! I’m glad you like it too. I know it’s probably one of the most popular eyeshadow primers out there. What is your favorite Soap & Glory product? I just ordered the Scrub of Your Life and am excited to try it too!

      1. I just followed your blog! My favorite is probably the Hand Food. I do enjoy their scrubs though! But I’ve never tried the scrub of your life. Let me know how it is!

  5. I’m looking forward to hearing more about the sponge, it’s very intriguing and I would really like to know how it works out. Urban Decay’s primer potion is amazing, it’s been my go-to shadow primer for years!

    1. I will have to update about it later for sure. He hasn’t used it much yet, so we’ll see. I agree. the UD primer potion is amazing! I’m definitely happy with the purchase.
