The Sisterhood Award

Hello My Dear Readers!

I was literally just finishing my nightly workout and sitting down to blog when I saw I had a nomination from DramaBeautyPop for the Sisterhood Award.  I wasn’t sure what to write about today, but I knew I wanted to write something, so getting to this post seems only fitting.  I haven’t finished one of these awards for a long, long time. I do always appreciate nominations though 🙂

First, thank you DramaBeautyPop for the nomination!  I began following her because she does tons of wonderful beauty reviews and informative beauty posts. I highly recommend checking out her blog at 🙂

Alright, so here are the rules for this award:

  • Link the blogger who nominated you on your post.
  • Put the award logo on your blog.
  • Answer the ten questions that were given to you.
  • Make up ten new questions for your nominees to answer.
  • Nominate five blogs and make sure they are aware they are nominated.
  • When you have responded, leave a link in the comment of the person who nominated you.

Here are the questions DramaBeautyPop is asking me to answer:

DramaBeautyPop’s Questions

  1. What does sisterhood mean to you?
  2. Cake or pies?
  3. Name three things from your bucket list. If you don’t have a bucket list, name three things that you have very great interest in trying.

  7. Do you prefer to cook or bake?
  8. Do you have any insecurities? If so, name one and why?
  9. Top five favorite cuisine.
  10. What are your ultimate life goals? Please be as detailed as possible.

Muhaha, I just love answering questions about myself! Weird, right? Ok, So here it goes.

  • What does sisterhood mean to you?

To me, sisterhood is a shared bond between women, particularly women who share a common, well-loved interest. I don’t believe you actually have to be sisters to have the bond of sisterhood, but sisterhood is strongest between close sisters. I am thankful for the sisterhood I have with my sister, Ash.  Even though I don’t get to see her often, when we get together, it’s like time hasn’t really passed.  Hey Ash, “Chilean seabass.” You’re welcome. She knows what it means!

  • Cake or pies?

Pies all the way.  My favorite kind of pie is rhubarb.  One time, my grandma spent all afternoon picking, peeling, de-seeding, and mashing grapes to make a single grape pie.  Besides any rhubarb pie, that single grape pie was the best thing I have ever, ever eaten. So yeah, I love pies.  Cake is good too, but you just can’t beat pie.

Except when it comes to icing. I will eat just straight up icing.

  • Name three things from your bucket list. If you don’t have a bucket list, name three things that you have very great interest in trying.

I don’t have an official bucket list and I try to take each day as it comes. Goodness knows having an anxiety disorder gives me enough dreadful anticipation of what will happen in the future.  I could probably think of 3 things I’m very interested in trying, though.  I would one day like to visit Korea with K.  Right now, that’s not possible financially or mentally.  I will have a lot of anxiety to get over before I visit one of the world’s most populous metropolises.  One word. GERMS.

A second thing I’d like to try would be crocheting an afghan. I have tried three times to make one of those suckers, but I get super bored after like the 3rd or 4th rows. I just want to be able to finish something!  Damn you ADD.

Finally, I would like to try to volunteer at a shelter, or at least crochet a sizable amount of things to donate.

*Bonus* I thought you could use something exciting since my 3 things are pretty boring. I would like to own my own cosmetics line someday, but that seems like an impossible dream.

  • What do you find most beautiful about yourself?

I have struggled with my self-image for a long, long, long time.  It hasn’t  been until about the last couple of years that I’ve started to appreciate who I am.  I find my eye color to be the most beautiful. Not necessarily my eyes as a whole, but the color. I think it’s pretty unique. I have what is called central heterochromia, which means that I have a mutation in my genes that makes my eyes different colors. Central heterochromia means that my eyes are different colors at the center of the iris and at the outer part of the iris. I’ve tried for years to name my eye color, but I couldn’t.  That’s because whenever my pupils dilate, my eyes are blue, but when they shrink, they are green.  They change colors in different lighting, so it makes it difficult to pinpoint what my true eye color is. Now you know 🙂

  • Winter, Fall OR Summer, Spring?

Summer and Spring always and forever. I can’t stand the cold weather because I hate being cold and because of the increase in illness. Also, I can’t wash my car every week :*( I hate a dirty, black car.

  • What makes you unique?

I think my accent is one thing that makes me unique. My sister doesn’t talk like me, but my brother does. I think it’s because we grew up more together and are closer in age. It’s an accent that is very regional to where I grew up. I don’t have the accent all the time, but when I go home and visit my family it comes out, especially around my brother.

I think my nose makes me unique too, but I don’t necessarily love it. I have a hereditary bone at the bridge of my nose, giving it a slight crooked look from the side. That’s why I try to take pictures that compliment the front of my face and not so much my profile. It’s difficult for me to love my nose, but it’s growing on me (pun definitely intended).

  • Do you prefer to cook or bake?

I like to bake, only because I have a sweet tooth.

  • Do you have any insecurities? If so, name one and why?

Yes, my nose! (See above).  I remember once a doctor asking me if I had broken my nose.  B*tch. No, I did not break my nose! Stop touching it!  That’s probably my biggest insecurity.

  • Top five favorite cuisine.

Well, my top five favorite cuisine are:

  1. Country food like my grandma made. She cooked a lot of American-German fusion.
  2. Mexican food
  3. Indian food
  4. Korean food
  5. Finally, tied for 5th would be Turkish food and German food.
  • What are your ultimate life goals? Please be as detailed as possible.

My ultimate life goals.  Hmm, this is a tough one.  I would one day like to own a house and have a craft/blogging/makeup room. I want to live somewhere other than Indiana in the United States and maybe, only maybe, one day in another country.  (FYI, I’ve been out of the states and traveled, just never lived anywhere else).  I would like to have a space big enough to adopt more animals, and by animals I mean cats. I would love to see Europe with K!  Oh, and if I could own my own store or sell a product that I’ve created online or in stores, well then that would be awesome too.

Ok, now that I’ve answered all of the questions, I’m going to ask 10 of my own:

  1. If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?
  2. Do you have any embarrassing habits? If so, what are they?
  3. Are you an early bird or a night owl?
  4. What is your #1 pet peeve?
  5. Using three words, describe yourself.
  6. If you had a time machine, where and when would you go and why?
  7. Can you think of a time when have you shown (or been shown) love in an unexpected way?
  8. How do you like to spend a rainy day?
  9. Which person in your life do you most admire? Why?
  10. What’s one favorite thing you do by yourself?

Drum roll please! I nominate:

Have fun with this post everyone 🙂 Thanks for reading!
