Happy Birthday Chester!

I really don’t like it when snow messes up my plans for the day.  We were going to go early to get groceries and to pick up my prescription, which is so inconveniently across town.  I guess I should watch the weather more often because I had no idea we were going to get around 5-8 inches.  I had to dig out my car, but we finally got it all cleared and the main roads weren’t as bad as I was expecting. I guess I’m past the age of thinking that snow is fun.  When did I get so old?  Anyway, here are some pictures of what we’re dealing with here.

I thought this icicle outside my balcony was pretty sweet. It was probably a third of that size when we went to bed last night.

Look how high the snow is on the cars.

On another note, today is a very special day.  It’s Chester’s birthday!  Actually, we have no idea when he was born, but they estimated he was about 2 months old when we adopted him in May of 2012. He’s already three years old. I can’t believe how time flies.

Somehow, we lost all of his baby pictures, but one remains. It breaks my heart that we don’t have anymore than this one, but it’s my favorite.

He was such a cute baby and so very curious. I was putting away dishes and turned around to see this. I had just enough time to grab my camera before he walked out.

Time travel about 2.5 years later and you have this:

I especially love picture of him laying next to Molang the fat rabbit:

He is too precious.  I’m so happy we took the leap and adopted him that day.  He has made our lives so much happier and he’s just so entertaining because of his squirrelly personality.

I love you baby kitty 🙂

  1. That’s a beautiful last picture of him – happy birthday!

Why do cats love dishwashers! They all do that!

I’m not going to say anything about snow bec. we have had almost 100 inches this winter lol

  2. wow, I had no idea you guys were getting that much snow. We had a little bit and some freezing rain but it’s warmed up pretty much and stuff is melting down here. Drive carefully and give Chester a happy birthday hug from me.

  3. Happy birthday Chester. You are quite the handsome boy. That is an impressive icycle. They are pretty at times. I am always worried they will fall when we, or one of our animals walks to the edge of the porch, they will decide to fall. You got about as much snow as we were supposed to get here in NE Kansas yesterday. I am glad we only got about 1-2 inches instead. And didn’t get the freezing rain we had a chance to get today. Your pictures are very pretty. I do love to look at the snow, but like you, I don’t like getting out in it like I did when I was younger. Stay warm and have a good rest of the Sunday. 🙂

    1. The icicle amazingly continues to grow 😀 it’s huge right now. I am always tempted to knock it off with a broom, but see it impaling somebody as it does, which would be just my luck.

  4. Happy Birthday, dear Chester! I love the young kitten picture you have and am also sad for you that this is the only one. I am happy he is healthy and makes your life better. Have a wonderful week, Megan.

  5. Well, Happy Birthday Chester! You deserve all the happiness, warmth and plenty of cuddles from Megan 🙂 and as for your snow day, I never really liked the cold weather and I thought it’d be fun to have snow where we live. But, experiencing the coldness when we visited NYC… Oh my! I did not prepare myself very well. Nonetheless, hope you stayed warm and cozy after you drove outside! Stay safe & warm, Megan 🙂

    1. Chester says thank you for the birthday wishes 🙂 haha…Yes, cold weather is no fun at all! I was in Boston during December of 2012 and that east coast cold is a damp cold, so I can imagine NYC is probably similar. Be happy if you live somewhere warm! This is no fun 😦

      1. It’s scorching hot in Australia. In Sydney, on a hot summers day it can reach to 40 degrees celsius. Maybe you can visit Australia during the November – February! That’s our months of summer 🙂

  6. Chester seems wonderful, as is my Tamika. Tamika is nearly nine (June).
I think that when you turn 17 and have had 1 year dealing with driving in the snow is when you start no longer enjoying it. By 22, I know I was pretty much done with it (other than just walking out on a fresh snow and listening to the quiet and watching it fall).

    1. They age so quickly. I wish they didn’t, but time seems to fly, especially as I get older. Hopefully the majority of the ice and snow misses you and me today 🙂
