The Pros and Cons of Being Me

I am so in love with that boy cat. Is he just not so precious?  I have so many funny photos of him. I love the one where he is sleeping with his head against the arm of the couch 😀

I’m 100% sure everyone can write a post like this. Actually, I encourage you to write a post like this! I would love to get to know all of you more on a deeper level.

I sat down and was thinking about what to write. Sometimes it’s difficult coming up with things I haven’t already discussed, but this is what I came up with.

The pros and cons of being Megan:

Pros

  • I’m knowledgeable on a number of subjects, mostly because I obsessively search and Google anything that pops in my head.  If you have anything you want me to discuss, I’d love to take a crack at it!
  • I love animals.
  • I try to consider both sides of an issue.
  • I am pretty good at crocheting.
  • I am a decent driver.
  • I can sing, probably not that great, but well enough.
  • I love history.
  • I try to keep an open mind.  Not everyone wants to live like me and not everyone needs to be the way I want them to be. Live and let live. I believe in just loving and respecting everyone.
  • I’ll eat almost anything once.  Anything that is food I mean.
  • I have a decent sense of style/fashion.
  • I’m like the best cat mom 🙂
  • I’m thrifty as heck.
  • I’m educated.
  • I don’t hold strong opinions about political or social issues unless I absolutely know the facts and have heard all sides of the story. Chances are, if some topic makes you angry or hateful, you don’t know all the facts.

Cons

  • Change easily makes me a huge grouch.
  • My moods change with the weather.
  • I take my stress out on others.
  • I have a lot of pet peeves.
  • I get hangry just about anytime I feel like I need to eat.
  • I wash my hands WAY too much.
  • I unintentionally intimidate people, either by what my mom calls the “Megan look” or by having a resting b-face.
  • I am awkward around children and most people at first.
  • I don’t really care about making friends.
  • I’d rather flop on the couch than take a refreshing walk.  AKA I’m lazy.
  • I don’t respond well to criticism. Either I secretly call the critic names, or cry.
  • I may be thrifty, but I’m known to be cheap and not in a good way.
  • I tell people to not touch their face/put their hands anywhere near their mouths. I know I shouldn’t care what other people do, but this is the ultimate in gross to me.
  • I make disgusted faces at public things, such as handrails, doors, and the worst offender, public pens. If I don’t bring my own pen, I just about cry.
  • I’m not afraid to call someone out on their rudeness. This may be a pro though…
  • My voice annoys even me. It’s nasally and regional.
  • I strongly despise anyone who is sick around me. Doesn’t matter with what, just get the eff away please.

Well, I think that’s a good enough pros/cons list for today 🙂 Don’t wanna be too hard on myself!  Hope your day goes well. It’s storming here now.

Best,

Megan

  1. Megan, I am so glad you wrote so honestly about yourself. I am sure there are more good qualities you didn’t mention. As for the bad, I so condemn myself for how I am about cleanliness and sick people. I have lost friends because of my obsession with germs and cleanliness and am dreading an upcoming visit to a clinic. So when I saw your post, and read all the points it made me feel better that someone understands. Thanks for posting. Namaste, Ellen

    1. I’m pretty hard on myself, but they are all things I think are true. I know you can relate to a lot of what I say and that’s a comfort to know that others know what I’m going through. Thanks Ellen 🙂

  2. This really is a good self inventory exercise, with the caveat that the Pros and Cons items need to balance each other. We’re all our own worst critics! For what it’s worth, I also go around telling people not to touch their face and I don’t care if they like it or not, it’s for their own good!
I’m going to do this – you should make this into an official tag with rules and parameters!

  3. I love your cons list! Hilarious. I’m pretty mindful of germs as well. I try to avoid using a public restroom unless it’s an emergency. Nothing worse than being in your stall only to hear the flush from a different stall and no running water from the sink afterwards.

  4. He is precious. I like the one with his head against the couch, too. Yesterday, my two spent most of the day pretending to be rugs. You have wonderful photos.

  5. That is great you are thrifty. I often spend too much money. It’s good to have money saved for rainy days. I love animals too. My moods change with the weather too. I think for me I am too sensitive. I think I can read into things too much when stressed. I think I am very kind. I do nice thing for others. I think I have a strength in keeping my head above water in high stress situations. I do have trouble getting over somethings. One of mt best pros is I am a hard worker and am a strong person I graduated college and I soldiered through school at times when I was very sick. For one instance I had pneumonia and still went to every class during the semester instead of taking it off.

      1. Yea it’s hard not to spend money when you are depressed. I bought a lot of movies recently online. Not expensive but I only needed a few. I hate this cold weather and snow I just want Spring to be here.

      2. Glad you got good weather over there. No good weather here boo. But I think good weather will be here in like two weeks so that is not so long to wait. I wish I could get rid of this stupid cold.

  6. As always, I love your Chester pictures! Especially, this time, the one in the top right-hand corner! I wonder what Chester would say your pros and cons are?

  7. megan, you made me laugh! in your introduction you wrote: “I encourage you to write a post like this! I would love to get to know all of you more on a deeper level.”… and then in your CONS you wrote: “I don’t really care about making friends.”
methinks you were too hard on yourself in the CONS section regarding that statement!
you have placed a challenge to make my own list… so stay tuned to when i finally post again (it’s been a very long time)… it won’t be in the too near future, as i’m currently taking an intensive course on counselling… but once i’m through with it i hope to share more of myself through the blog again… be blessed young lady!

    1. I’m a walking contradiction! haha 😀 I don’t care about making friends in real-life I suppose. I think people are truly themselves online and I appreciate that 🙂

  8. I always love how honest and down to earth your posts are. Always love reading about you… not in the creepy way. LOL. I nominated you for an award. 🙂

  9. This was such a refreshing post! I am all about creating positive lists in my journal to remind myself just how important I am and what I have to offer. Your point about being a great cat mom struck me funny, although I don’t have cats, I have two dogs and I too take pride in how much I love them. Also, your “cons” list was anything but- those were all prime examples of what a strong and independent women is, most people don’t have the guts to say what bothers them and I think it’s admirable.

  10. Ah, Megan. It’s been while since I’ve commented. I SO see myself in you…a number of years ago. I smile when I read your cons…but only because I could have written that same list 10 years ago (okay, two years ago). Thanks for always being so honest. {hugs} ~~ Lisa

  11. Love the idea behind this- such a great way to get to know the person behind the posts 🙂

And I totally agree with the toilet handles ect.. Even my 3 year old daughter hovers and refuses to touch anything without using toilet roll to touch it in a public toilet haha!

At least there’s always good points to having OCD at times 🙂

Will be heading off to write my own version now,

    Good night! X

  12. Megan pleases hearts
    Discussing many parts…
    Of her life
    Admitting strife,
    Dispensing healing arts.

    She is not alone
    Admitting a groan…
    She invites
    With delights
    In hope that she’s sown.

    She loves this way
    Fortified with “K”…
    Chester too
    Reverses blue
    And drives it far away!

  13. Thank you for looking at my blog Megan,
I think you and I have the SAME cat… my Archer is a Bengal and sometimes my P.I.T.A. but still my joy too. I’ll have to look, but I think I have photos of him on the blog? He has gone camping with us and I loved the photo I took of him looking outside then – the seagulls scared him though. LOL

  14. OMG, yes Chester and Archer must be sibling (in some form). I just added your Facebook account – you can see ‘Archer’ (my substitute) on my account. And I’m now a fan follower. :O Loved the video – I need to start adding Archer to youtube as well. I shared it with my other cat coworkers…
