My Favorite Things About Spring

There are so many things to love about the Spring. It’s my favorite time of the year with summertime coming in at a close second. All you other times of year can just stay away, ok?

My mood has changed drastically since the meteorological winter ended back in mid March. Each day the weather is warmer and warmer and the landscape is getting so pretty. I feel so happy right now. Any day that I can spend outside in the sun is a good day. I usually work on cleaning my car for hours on end because it’s one of the few things I can do outside, living in an apartment complex and all. The funny thing is, I can get dirty and sweaty outside, in nature, and not be bothered by it. Soil and plants and animals don’t bother me in the least. They are all truely good and clean in my mind. Now, I’m not saying I’ll go pet a squirrel or cuddle a bird because I’d probably get rabies or lice. I just enjoy looking at all the beautiful things around me at this time of year.

I’ve written a list of things that I enjoy most about this time of year. See if you can relate to any of these:

  • The perfect weather. During the spring, some days are exactly perfect; not too hot or too cold.
  • The sunshine is so pretty. I’ve missed it all winter.
  • The flowers and blooming trees. I live in a place with lots and lots of blooming plants and just love looking at them and taking pictures of them this time of year.
  • The smell. Not sure what this smell is, but spring definitely has a smell.
  • Thunderstorms. There’s nothing more relaxing to me than falling asleep to the sound of rain and thunder.
  • Birds chirping.
  • Chipmunks! I miss these little buddies during the winter.
  • Short-sleeved shirts
  • Not warming up my car before work.
  • Relaxing walks outside
  • Taking Chester for walks

    1. More like a drag 🙂 If he does decide to move his legs, he walks really low to the ground like he’s scared a hawk is going to snatch him up 🙂

I agree, chipmunks are way better 😀

  1. Short sleeve shirts, yes! With sayings on them! I also love the chirping birds, good weather, sunshine, and oh yes, lets not forget the smell of cut grass! Which drives my allergies mad! LoL XX

  2. Agreed with most of the things you wrote in the list, except for thunderstorms – they freak me out quite a bit and I’d have a hard time falling asleep with booming lightning in the background. Aside from this, lovely pictures and nicely written article 🙂

  3. I love it, too.
    Almost as much as autumn.
The smell is balancing between rain and sunshine, when the decaying leaves and the rich loamy soil perfume the air, first the rain, then the dry out, then the rain, then the dry out — wonderful smells!

  4. Such a lovely post Megan, I’m normally a ‘fall/autumn’ gal but after a loooooong cold winter Spring is always much appreciated 🙂 Love seeing the new little flowers etc begin to bloom – everything feels so new! Karen xo

  5. Hi, Megan! My absolute favorite is waking up to birdsong. All the males out there marking their territory, some females replying, and juveniles clearing their throats–just learning to sing. Yesterday, Easter morning: white-throated sparrow, song sparrow, cardinal, titmouse, Carolina wren, flicker. They seemed to know it was time to start cranking up bigtime! Tiny challenge: the lighter it is outside, the earlier they begin their concert. Fine now, but in a few months it will probably begin at 5am latest. Still, I love hearing them.

  6. I love spring too!! We have a cherry tree in full bloom and with every breeze that blows we get pink “snow!” And I love climbing the lilac tree and lounging in sunpuddles!! (And I wouldn’t mind taking chester fur a walk myself)! 😻

  7. Yet another great post! Always enjoy reading your posts so much. Keep up the good work love.

I tagged you for the One Lovely Blog Award

  8. I actually love the cold. I am a Fall and Winter girl, but I do like Spring and can appreciate some things about Summer. I am with you 100,000% about thunderstorms! I love them. I sleep like a baby! In my ideal house I want a garden room that is completely glazed ask around including the ceiling just so I can pull a mattress in there and sleep during storms. I love when it starts to warm up and I can smell lilacs! I love the hummingbirds! Chester is adorable!

  9. Sunshine IS so pretty 🙂 We have no chipmunks but those little creatures would be cool to see. My favourite time of year is Spring and Autumn (when it doesn’t rain here). My favourite things about Spring, the smell of freshly mowed lawns, the sun and blue skies. Great post, Megan ! 🙂

  10. I like the fact that the sun comes back from its vacation in outer space and we get to see some of it. Seriously though, when I lived in Scotland we got a similar daylight thing to Alaska and I miss it profoundly in the summer but am glad to avoid it in winter. The light doesn’t shine for long enough in England, and it goes dark too quickly. I like how sproingy the rabbits get as well. Both the does have had major spring fever these past couple of days and the boys are getting bouncy as well, it’s lovely to see them all springing around and playing.

    1. that’s so cute! Chester just sits or flops on the ground, or crawls very low to the ground rather than really walking, but it’s good for him to get outside.

  11. i hate cold weather very very much , some times i say to myself , it seems that Allah designed me just to live in warm winter , i agree with you about all the above points you have mentioned except the one that talked about car because i don’t have one .
