Hello dear friends 🙂
I am happy to bring you another giveaway as well as a review of one of my favorite Etsy stores, Tomo & Edie.
You can find Tomo & Edie on Facebook and Twitter, where sale announcements are made and new products are introduced. Tomo & Edie is currently having a big sale until 8/8/15 for 30% off your order in celebration of the shop’s 3,000th sale!
About the Store:
Tomo & Edie sells beautiful, handmade hair accessories made from exquisite Japanese silk kimono fabric and the shop sells blocks of kimono fabric, so you can make whatever your heart desires. I have always loved Japanese kimono fabric because the patterns are also so unique and elegant and seem to carry some meaning behind them beyond being just a regular printed fabric. I have admired Tomo & Edie’s hair accessories for a long time now and have always wanted a scrunchie made from kimono fabric. Everything in the shop is handmade in the US and is eco friendly. Since the hair accessories are all handmade from unique kimono fabrics, all of them are a little bit different. You most likely won’t get the exact same looking accessory, even from the same kimono silk fabric. I think that’s wonderful and so custom! She also makes Kimono stickers, brooches and earrings, snap clips and bobby pins, and 3 way headbands.
Kimie not only sent me a scrunchie (that I had been eyeing for months) to review, but she also sent me one of her gorgeous beak clips and barrettes.
Here’s a picture of me wearing the scrunchie:
You can find all of Tomo & Edie’s current scrunchies here. You can always request a custom order for any of the items as well! The selection is incredible. I think right now she has around 80 different scrunchies! The one I got was one of the Kawaii Kimono scrunches. I love it so much! It has pinks, reds, greens, purples, blues and yellows in the pattern, so it’s great to wear with many things I own. The material is really, really soft and well made and the seams are flawless, thanks to Kimie’s expert sewing skills! I’ve worn it tons of times now and it has not lost any of its elasticity.
FYI, scrunchies are definitely making a comeback and these kimono scrunchies are FAR more fashionable than those denim-looking ones from the 90s. Plus you are buying something from a small business that sells handmade items 🙂 Win-win. This is the beautiful beak clip that Kimie sent me. You can find all of her beak clips on Etsy here. I’ve always loved blue kimono fabrics and the floral pattern on this is so delicate and pretty.
I’m laughing so hard about how my selfies of the beak clip look. I am going to be honest with you, I’m still working on how I should wear the beak clip. It’s gorgeous and tight fitting, so it’s going to be versatile! I think I’ve been trying to put too much of my hair in there and I make it look stupid. I’ve never been that good at doing my hair 😦
See how pretty it is! I love the pink leaves and white petals.
Here is a picture of the barrette she sent me. Isn’t it so gorgeous? The colors are vibrant and beautiful. I tried to choose hair accessories of different colors, so that I could highlight the variety of Kimie’s work. You can find all of her barrettes here.
Excuse the giantness of my forehead! I should’ve probably cropped that.
