Happy New Year!

I have been taking a bit of a break from blogging lately.  I have had zero interest in writing or even turning on my laptop.  I think it’s partly because of the dark days of winter and because I’ve been working a lot on my crochet.  I made this afghan for my mom for Christmas. 23859244265_39db055d6d_o The pattern is  called the Vintage Fan Ripple blanket by Marinke Slump.  I followed her blog, A Creative Being, for over a year and have worked from her patterns and shared them with others throughout that time. It broke my heart when I heard she took her own life and I feel it’s such a tragedy.  She was such a talented woman and her work has and will continue to inspire crocheters all over the world.

On a lighter note, I’ve gotten a new doll and I love her so much. She’s an Island Doll Forest Amy that I’ve named Lucrezia. I know this means nothing to most of you, but it is something that makes me happy. I’ve been crocheting for her.  I recently made this corset and sewed the skirt for her as well. 23687801699_3825a30a51_o

I havne’t crocheted in awhile, so I’m happy that I’m getting back into it and improving every time I pick up my hook.  It’s been really relaxing.

We’ve had a really rainy winter so far, with next to no snow and abnormally warm temperatures. It has made me realize that I kind of miss our true Indiana winters because at least the sun is out some days.

K is in Korea, so I’ve been all by myself, with Chester of course, for the past few weeks and a week and a half to come. It’s ok because I do like the alone time, but it is boring at times.  Whenever it’s just me and Chester, he is so cuddly. He is always next to me:

We are enjoying New Year’s Eve together. Well, I’ve been crocheting, he’s been sitting on the couch next to me, and I’ve been watching episodes of The Office.  It’s not the most exciting life, but it’s mine 🙂

I just wanted to update everyone on where I’ve been, in case anyone was even wondering.  Hopefully I will get out of this funk and will feel motivated to start writing again.

Happy New Year everyone 🙂

  1. I was wondering about you just the other day! I thought to myself if I had accidentally missed an email stating a new post. 🙂 Glad you are doing ok. You have such talent with crochet!

  2. I dug out my needle over the holidays and started practicing stitches again. I am hoping to begin a project soon. I was happy to see your link but very sad to hear about the blogger.

  3. I also had been wondering if you were OK. I’m in Ohio and the winter days have been gloomy here as well. It does make one want to hibernate. Love the afghan–such an interesting stitch and great color combination. Looking forward to hearing more from you when you are ready.

    1. You are not too far away at all 🙂 It has been a very strange winter so far, hasn’t it? Thank you for looking at my post and appreciating my afghan 🙂 It means a lot!

  4. HI, Megan. Thanks for the update about yourself, and, especially, about your crocheting and Chester! It sounds like you have a plan for staying sane, occupied and interested, with Chester there to keep you on your toes. Your crocheting is gorgeous! I love the photos.
    Happy new year!
