I haven’t written poetry in awhile. I haven’t felt the inspiration or want to write much of anything, but the changing of the seasons always has an impact on my mood. I felt a need to write things down out came this bit of poetry.
I know i’ve shared a lot of my photos of flowers, but because this is a rose, I thought it was only fitting.
It has been just over 7 years since my grandmother Rosemary, who many called Rose or Rosie, passed away from liver cancer. She was an integral part of my family, keeping us all together during the holidays. She was selfless and humble and everything that I could ever hope to be. I can’t believe it was that long ago. My peppermint plant was looking wild, so it was time to trim it and collect the leaves for drying. I cut the oldest leaves off and left the small shoots still on the plant, then changed the soil, and finally added a stake on one side to keep it growing straight. I’ve had dogs in the past and they are loyal companions for sure, but cats are a different animal altogether. Continue reading
