Love This Face

I haven’t written poetry in awhile. I haven’t felt the inspiration or want to write much of anything, but the changing of the seasons always has an impact on my mood.  I felt a need to write things down out came this bit of poetry.

Through the Revolving Doors

I know i’ve shared a lot of my photos of flowers, but because this is a rose, I thought it was only fitting.

It has been just over 7 years since my grandmother Rosemary, who many called Rose or Rosie,  passed away from liver cancer.  She was an integral part of my family, keeping us all together during the holidays.  She was selfless and humble and everything that I could ever hope to be.  I can’t believe it was that long ago.   Continue reading

Leaving the Darkness

Peppermint Leaves :)
Peppermint Leaves 🙂

My peppermint plant was looking wild, so it was time to trim it and collect the leaves for drying.  I cut the oldest leaves off and left the small shoots still on the plant, then changed the soil, and finally added a stake on one side to keep it growing straight.  I must have trimmed off dozens of leaves.  It took me nearly an hours to wash each leaf and then tear them into pieces.  I put the leaf bits into a container all ready for sitting in the sun for a couple of days. My journal :)
My journal 🙂

Roses on campus 🙂

I took a walk today in a neighborhood that I’ve never been in.  The neighborhood is actually just behind my apartment complex, but there’s a fence separating it from us and a highway separating us the other way, so we’ve never been there.  That is, until we found a hole in the fence 😉  This was such a lovely little neighborhood.   Continue reading

Keeping Memories

It’s been a year since I graduated from college.  Since then, I’ve finally come to the realization that I am no longer a child.  It’s such a strange transition, really.  It seems like I went from dependence in high school, semi-dependence in college, and now total independence.  I think my generation has this experience quite often and I could see how easy it would be to continue on in the semi-dependence stage.   Continue reading

Chester Appreciation Day

Chester sleeping with his tongue sticking out 😉

As many of you know, I have a cat named Chester.  He just turned a year old last month and it has been such a fun experience being new “kitty parents,” as we like to call ourselves.  I’ve had dogs in the past and they are loyal companions for sure, but cats are a different animal altogether. Continue reading
